That looks awesome, Phred.  

If anyone can't find or afford the syrup, a reasonable chocolate syrup can be made by mixing cocoa powder with agave syrup.  I buy the raw cocoa powder, so that's what we use.

It looks decadant!!  any idea about the amount of caffeine.  this non-secretor is dreadfully affected by caffeine.  I looked but didn't see anything on it. Take care.  CB.

Phred, thanks for the link. I almost fell over when I saw how much shipping was tho! $11.99 for 1 bottle. That's more than the syrup!!    However, I thought if this stuff is really yummy (and how could it not be!!), I would order a dozen. That works out to $9.23 a bottle. Not bad that way. Figured I could use them as gifts if I wanted. If they have a nice long expiration date on them, that would be okay to have that many on hand. Phred, can you tell me what expiration date is on yours? Thanks!!

those carob molasses Yaman always talks about are just as yummy and healthy!

unless you have blood sugar issues (re: the molasses).     that's why I really like the agave.

Very easy to make yourself!  Really!



Also, try this....melt some ghee with unsweetened chocolate, add in molasses and/or agave nectar, add in almond butter and stick it in the fridge to firm up.  Instead of unsweetened cocolate, you could add carob powder or cocoa powder (or raw cacao powder) as the final ingredient.  For the method with powder, no firming up is needed.

Lecithin at home didn't work out too well for me...tends to be too much lecithin....very hard to get it not to overwhelm the concoction.  
The only way I like lecithin in the home kitchen is in the membrane fluidizer cocktail

Italy, you're going to give jars away as gifts?  Can I be your friend?    Seriously, this looks amazing.  Something I did last night to trick my tastebuds is this:  I melted some chocolate and ghee, added a couple of drops of stevia, stirred in shredded coconut and toasted walnuts.  I divided it up between a few paper muffin cups and stuck them in the fridge.  An hour later they were a perfect chocolate/coconut/walnut dessert with no sugar!

awesome thread here! On eof my fav topics, but I am getting very attached to that bitter cocoa and ghee hot beverage too. So unsweet that it is surreal *and* satisfying.

Ribbit, I like your idea! I made a similar tray of sweeties for a friends picnic recently- but also added chopped prunes and figs soak in a splatter of cointreau

1 Tbsp. cocoa
1 Tbsp. agave
1/2 - 1 tsp. ghee (opt.)

Mix together till it's a thick paste.  Apply to a rice cake for a great dessert.  Or, you can take it and roll it into little balls and then roll in shredded coconut or more cocoa powder, or carob powder. Or--I just thought of this--finely chopped nuts. Then you have chocolate balls that melt in your mouth.  

This is our new nightly dessert.

I like this idea because:

I purchased the chocolate syrup and don't like it in the least.  It does not taste good mixed with Soy Milk unless you add a TON of it and that's alot of calories!

I also got their French Salad Dressing and man is it sweet.  I'm going to water it down with other ingredients in order to be able to use it.
