OK so the day after my 5th IVF failed, we both went out and did something that I haven't done once this year: had a burger with fried zucchini, followed by a Starbucks hot classic cocoa with soy milk, no whip.

My "sins" were: white bun, ranch dressing (vinegar), 1 slice of processed cheese, the breadcrumbs on the zucchini, and sugar and soy in the cocoa.

The rest of it was lettuce, tomato, onion, beef pattie (poached then char-grilled so no oil used) and the zucchini and cocoa.

It was all gorgeous and went down a treat! But 2 days later I have no side-effects other than the remains of the headache and slight looseness that started the day before when I came off the hormone medication.

Why's that then? Why haven't I been plunged into the deepest despair and depression, with the painful gas, constipation and skin rashes that wheat and dairy usually give me? Huh? Huh??

Do I still have that to look forward to? Or could my body be strengthened by being so good for the last year, enough for me to cope with an occasional binge without getting punished for it?



Note to self: I am me, and also an O-nonnie - I'm allowed not to fit the mould.

all sound utterly disgusting to me now!
and let me add, I never had an adverse apparent reaction to an avoid either!
BTD is about choice and what you expect to achieve by following it compliantly.

I will admit, the cocoa which I remembered liking so much was waaay too sweet and I only got halfway down the mug. No more "calls" for that! The bun was also far sweeter than I remembered, and I could taste the vinegar and the bitterness of the additives hours later. It definitely didn't taste the same as it used to.

Although I enjoyed it at the time and probably could get used to it all over again very easily (although I don't intend to), it's gone back to being defined as "emergency food only".

I do wish I could get as much enjoyment from real food as I used to get from the rubbish though....

I used to have quite unpleasant reactions to avoids and could definitely not get away with a binge like that without major repercussions.  

However, I have now been doing BTD for over 5 years with high compliance for about 3-4 years now and I have noticed that in the last year or so I can get away with far more than before.  I think this is in part due to healing from following the diet and therefore having more ability to bounce back or adjust to what I eat, but I also think it is very much due to other treatment I've had with homeopathy, which fundamentally changes your body's tuning in order to remove susceptibility.

Avoids when I do consume them don't bother me as much as in the early days of the BTD. Just don't make a habit of it .

avoids, especially wheat creates underarmproblems for me   dito I guess that sweets do the same, not only up with the poundies ....
