I'm a bit sad right now...I just found out that I'm a Non-Secretor. I feel like I have to start all over figuring what I can eat and what I can't. Just when I was starting to get the hang of this using the secretor information... I will make it through and I will have to do some research before I head out grocery shopping today. I had made up index cards to carry to the grocery store with me...I guess I'll have to do some editing. Cest la vie! |

Enjoy some coconut for me Perhaps some coconut milk rice pudding sweetened with agave nectar? If you eat with O's then being an A-nonsecretor is easier than being an A secretor, IMO. There are lots of things you can add, for consolation... bananas, sweet potatoes, lamb, to name a few. Turkey is beneficial, if you eat meat. |

Dont be sad, everyone else in my family knew before I got my test results that I was a nonnie, and I was really unsure. Once you get used to it and come to terms with it its fine. Plus you get a really good reason to blame why your body is so sensitive and weird. |

How do A-nonnies get enough calcium and keep their blood from clotting? |

Deep inside I've known it all along. When I went to an allergist and was tested for food allergies, I came up as being HIGHLY allergic to soy and corn...go figure! I'm heading to the grocery store soon and in light of my new status, my husband said that he will happily stay home while I peruse every label in the store. ! |

julie,
After knowing for over a year that I'm a non-secretor, I've come to realize that I'm highly inflammatory to all carbohydrates... even the "neutrals" still cause me aches and discomfort, when I have them above very minimal doses. |

As far as calcium there are a plethera of sources like dark leafy greens and broccoli, collards, kale, swiss chard. A's blood is in general thicker then Os blood and tends to clott quite nicely I have read in one of Dr. D's books, at least mine does. I really do not do well with dairy at all but I know there are other sources that equal the ammount you would get from dairy. |

That is so funny! My husband wanders over to the sporting goods dept while I read. |

As I think I'm a nonnie, & do better on that diet, I think I'd be disappointed to find out if I were a secretor. I did some cheating this week. I have found Lara Bars in which the sweetener is dates. They are so good. There are only 3 flavors I eat. I hope dates aren't too bad of an avoid for a O nonnie..... rambling.... Still the most difficult thing about being an O dietetically seems to be avoiding potatoes. They are cheap & go with many foods, are accesible in the public, etc. I just have the rule that it's OK to have them when traveling (which is rare!). There's not much else out there good to eat & then there is so much grilling which I avoid (tastes bad & is cancer waiting to happen! IMHO) I'm hoping the genotype book will cut us nonnies some slack in certain areas!!!! Maybe the O nonnie can be classified as a separate type !!!!!!!! Enough ramblings for now!!! S S & L, Mrs "T" O+ (probably a nonnie sister) |
