Do nonnies have such a hard time metabolizing carbs because they don't mass-produce and secrete blood type antigens in the first place?
In other words, what I'm really asking is whether or not, in secretors, dietary carbs are more readily taken in and used by cells to create the sugars that make up the blood type antigens, such as fucose, galactosamine, and GalNAc. Is that what's going on?
If you're a nonnie, is it that you don't have the mechanism that would take in and convert these dietary carbs into blood type antigens, specifically for secretion? |

Hi Ron - great question!
Lola, is your answer a yes to both simple and complex? Nonnies can't process any carbs? |

I tried to delete my account to start a whole new one, but it didn't work out quite the way I planned. |

I believe we can process the compliant carbs, yes, but with a lot of precaution as to how much...... I for one am very petite so everything I eat needs to be closely monitored. others can get away with more......it depends on your metabolism and body structure, I guess.

I relate to this answer. Grain carbs, for the most part, throw my system all crazy. I've found my acceptable level, however. And by the same trial and error reasoning, some vegetable carbs every day are essential for my feeling of well-being. |

Hey Lola, Care to elaborate on this a bit? I'd be interested in more info as I have been fighting the cellulite train since I was 16. What about the "other goodies"? Thanks. Deb |

since I'm suspecting I'm a nonnie and I've been reading peoples' benefits of going grain free I decided thats what I'm going to do, with maybe a serving here or there...but I was wondering if nonnies have a difficult time with consuming too many carbs from vegetables just like they do grains...because I'm a bit of a sweet potato/yam junkie in addition to the many vegetables I already eat...they're all beneficial but I'm afraid I'm overdoing the carb aspect...so I guess I'm wondering if it eating too many sweet potatos and vegetable carbs in all will sabatoge my metabolism? |

those will be far better than the other carbs you used to consume.....you will adjust gradually, no worries, if needed. |
