Anyone on the board reading or responding to my posts know that I have been experiencing serious digestive challenges.
I saw my NPath yesterday and she described being a non-secretor is like having an auto-immune disease.
What is wrong with me is that my mucous membrane from top to bottom is all damaged from previous trauma and harsh cleansings. She is getting me to just eat shakes and soups for the next 3 weeks and adding slippery elm and marshmallow root along with licorice root very much throughout the day. I am also needing to buy a liquid vitamin and add 1 tbl 2x/day of that along with l-glutamine.
Later she wants to add coconut oil but not now. (I'm not sure what to say to her about that one) She probably won't go along with the ghee idea.
I am to be off all herbs. No cleansings. That means no milk thistle or dandelion root until my membranes are nice and "fluffy" was her quote.
At least I have some direction now. |

I wouldn't eat coconut oil. Dr. D says it is very bad for us, and so far he's been right on track as far as what has healed my body. I find ghee to be extremely healing, and I came out of a very bad rut of inflamed insides. I had IBS for many decades, with a bowel movement nearly every time I urinated. I gradually became very malnourished due to food moving through me too fast, as well as poor absorption and leaky gut.
I think the liquids are probably a good idea, if you do it within the boundaries of what is good for you as a B non-secretor. Keep in mind that as non-secretors, our bodies do not handle avoids well, and beneficials are especially powerful tools to heal our delicate systems.
I took Intrinsia for a few months to help heal my damaged gut, but no longer need it. Deflect was also helpful for a while to assist with the healing. Check out the thread on Deflect. And I also took glutamine for several months. I'm still drinking a smoothie for breakfast, along with one or two eggs and I make fresh extracted vegetable juice nearly every morning. |

Victoria, I just sent my NPath a copy of Dr. D'Adamo's response on coconut oil from the archives. I told her it would not be a product I would take since it is on the avoid list for my blood type and non-secretor status.
Maybe I'll convert her yet eh? |

I took one with each meal and one in between each meal, for a while. As I healed, I decreased to one with each meal and one at some other time when my stomach was empty. I gradually decreased to one with my most difficult meal to digest, whatever that happened to be. And now I only take one if I eat avoids, which is never, unless I am on a long trip and even then, it's minimal.
With foods, it lessens the harm from the food. On an empty stomach, it helps to recover from the damage we have done to our bodies through unwise eating habits. |

Good luck with converting your NP, but don't hold your breath. The blood type approach to nutrition and lifestyle is a quantum leap in wellness wisdom, and it takes some people a long time to "get it".
When I am working with an NP, Acupuncturist or Homeopath, etc. I listen carefully to their suggestions, take the best of what they offer, and modify the rest to fit within my own approach. Trying to understand what they are trying to accomplish by their suggestions helps us to make substitutions. Ghee for coconut oil is one example. |

This monster thread is just one of several that explain all the in's and out's of ghee. It's a 'sticky' thread near the top of the cooking board, where you might expect to find threads about cooking. |

I am not touching anything oil or fat based at the moment because of my digestion difficulties. Instrinsa sounds like a winner though when I am able to get it. |

Right, the protein powder is fairly low fat.
Even broccoli has 0.4 gm fat per 100 gram serving.
It may not be ideal to use hemp as the choice for protein but that's what is being used right now. It may also turn out to be an excellent choice. |

I did notice that I felt better this morning after having it last night. My energy levels have been fairly low since my gastritis upset and I don't have much reserves to go on since losing the weight. Slowly but surely, I'll heal and regain as long as I protect my stomach and not put anything in it that will flare it up.
Funny thing is I never thought ginger would do that but the juiced ginger I had did. |
