Having a fairly low Alkaline Phosphatase reading and the  need to eat a substantial amount of meat most days, I was wondering how others increase their level of this substance .....    

Are there any foods which can do this?  Also does this substance affect high LDL levels?  As this has also been an ongoing problem before the BTD and now that I've been so compliant (no grains, etc.).

I only eat evol as far as oils go, heaps of walnuts and not a bit of dairy to be seen !

Any suggestions....?

I think here you've to go for a little research about the autonomous nervesystem....and look for vagtonics and/ or its conterfy sympaticus/parasympaticus. This is merely related to this thema !!

stick to the weekly amount of serving for red meat and stay on coarse with the diet and get retested in 6 months...

Thanks guys,...just thought that maybe I'm missing out on a tip as my type has low levels of this naturally, and we're supposed to eat meat up to 14 times per week!  



I do love my meat which is always lean (and has the gov. heart tick) but no matter what I do my LDL is still up there with the government warnings.

sweet potatoes and yams is avoid for A's because it lowers their already very low Alkaline Phosphatase..so maybe you might want to do the same till they get up more

From the Science section; It would depend if you mean Serum Alkaline Phosphatase {different kinds as well} or Intestinal Alkaline Phosphatase {IAP or ALPI}.

Here's something perplexing...A non's are supposed to have the IAP problem as well but sweet potatoes are neutral.  So...perhaps sweet potatoes don't do that to non-secretors?

Have you read Live Right?  There is great info re: intestinal alkaline phosphatase for all blood types and explanation why Os have more and how to maximize this advantage.  There is also lots of info on this in the Wiki section of the site.

As to cholesterol, are you following the portion and freqency guidelines for the diet?  Are you making vegetables the basis of your diet?  Are you living the O lifestyle (exercise, stress reduction, habits)?  

If you are doing all these things, it may just take time for your body to change.  Also, you may need more intervention (supplements, homeopathy, Asian medicine, etc) to deal with specific health issues.  Take a peak at the health protocols (under Support and Solutions from the main page) that might apply to you.

In the blood type A section of LR4YT, I believe the foods that increase alkaline phosphatase are carrots, yellow squash, spinach, and broccoli.

Alia Vo, I consume carrots each day in my veggie juice, one of the varieties of spinach each day in my omelet & broccoli most nights....have done for quite a while.

Whimsical, I live by LR4YT am active & not carrying much weight.

Wiki states that O & B secs have the highest alk.phos. then A secs and then all nonies have the lowest.

If A secs shouldn't eat too much meat because of the lower alk.phos. then what about the poor O nonies?......      who are supposed to eat even more meat than the O secs?

Really hope this does happen as I do not want to go onto meds for high cholesterol    

After being strictly compliant for 6 months my HDL has gone up a bit but my LDL has gone up a lot and my ratio is worse.  My calcium is still low but not as low as was a year ago when I was still eating a little bit of dairy.

Sometimes I think it'll never change & then maybe I'm just impatient !

To lower your cholesterol, you might try spending more time in the sun.  

My understanding is that full-spectrum sunlight on the skin and eyes, is what drives your body to convert cholesterol into vitamin D... which also helps you absorb calcium.

Maybe if you can figure out all the things that the body uses cholesterol as a building-block for, you can take various actions to drive those processes forward, so that the stored cholesterol doesn't stick around so much.

Had a laugh when I read your post    as where I live in sunny Queensland in Australia it's hard to get away from the sun.   Also I have had 5 nasty cancers cut out and a load of precancers  burnt off....so I won't be sunning myself anytime soon     (my dad has melanoma!)

High cholesterol is in my family......I've been so compliant....so was expecting at least some  movement in the  blood results only to find them worse  

The BTD has helped me in so many ways...but not this...is it my type...am I eating too much meat ? ....Rh- are supposed to add some extra helpings of meat...this is why I was trying to up my alkaline phosphate output as it was also low and my calcium is still down.

shells, it's entirely possible that you're eating too much meat.  But are you eating grass-fed meat, or the mainstream stuff?

Have you tried Dr. D's "Phytocal" supplements yet?  They have an amazing calcium absorption rate because of the Maerl seaweed and the K2 vitamins.  

Also, try taking your calcium supplements with a meat-containing meal.  The meat helps you absorb the calcium.  

Have you tried guggul gum to lower cholesterol?  And how's your sugar?  If it's too high, consider using maitake mushroom...

As someone else mentioned, cholesterol is a pre-cursor to hormone production and other important tasks. †Focussing on helping the cholesterol convert is important, grass raised and finished red meats, regular exercise, eating recommended portions of meat with lots of greens, reducing grains and sugars in the diet, etc. †

If you can, meet with an endocrinologist regarding cholesterol/hormones. †They are the experts on this subject. †

Ron-O-Non, most of our meat is grass fed unless drought affected but I'll double check with our butcher.  I will take my calc. earlier with meat meal rather than late snack...thanks for that.  Not heard of guggul gum but will definitely look into it    

Vicki, the only sugar I have is naturally in the pineapple juice in my smoothie & banana plus the odd compliant piece of fruit....no grains....will not let a day go by without dark leafy greens  

Did not know of the link with cholesterol/hormones, my LDL has always been high.  I'll probably wait a few more months then see a diagnostic haematologist if no improvement.

Read the book "Alkalize or Die" by Theodore Barody.  The best information I've ever found
on staying alkalized.  Amazon sells it if you can't find it locally.
