Ps: It's so true that music affects our emotional and mental states. Angry, noisy music promotes aggression and hinders clear thought. |

I did much better today. What can't a good night of sleep help?
Glad it went better for you. I agree about sleep. |

OinV, I get that pulse thing too! It's like the surrounding noise gets somewhat muted with each pulse? I've had it for about 7 months now. I haven't really told anyone (dr) yet as I wasn't sure what it was. I finally felt a pulse point and found that each "whoosh" correlated with a pulse. It doesn't hurt but feels pretty uncomfortable. Anyways, I rarely have it happen except when I stray from the diet more than 3 days in a row. I am still awaiting my secretor status, next week I should get the results. I stand strong that, yes, I am a nonnie but I want to be a secretor, better foods for me! |

Whichever you are, secretor or nonnie, it will be great info for you to have. Even if you are a nonnie there are still great foods on your list. You won't look back. I haven't noticed the "whoosh" thing (it is exactly as you describe) for a while now. I've been sleeping like a log lately so I hear and feel nada until I wake up in the a.m. Btw, I've never had high blood pressure. So I know it wasn't that - if my situation is any consolation. I have to have lofty, very very soft pillows. It muffles the pulse sound. Now I can't sleep with any other type of pillow. No hard pillows for me. |

I have pretty low blood pressure, whoosh probably doesn't describe it but it was all I could think of . Mine will happen after sitting and then getting up or when I lie on my back, like you. It happens very infrequently now, good, because I don't like it. Yep, one more week and I will find out, I did get SWAMI and entered myself as a non-secretor anyways. |

I enjoy music- but if it's on, I can't read, listen to people talk, or do any work that requires intense thought. I focus on the music almost completely; I have to listen to the lyrics. I can crochet while listening to music, or cook (if it's not a new recipe) or clear the table, but I can't help somebody with homework or balance my checkbook if the music is on.
I also like the loud, angry music. I actually find it quite calming if I'm already feeling aggressive. It's like I let go of my aggression through the music rather than through screaming at somebody or driving aggressively. When I'm in that kind of a mood, soft music just makes me feel more angry. My brain is going faster than the music and it's just irritating. |

I'm with you ruthiegirl and TJ. I have to go into one of our "quiet" offices in order to get my work done. I own a family business and my children work for me. They have never been able to understand why I can't concentrate with music on. I have to have complete quiet in order to get work done. I just found out last night that I am a non-secretor. |

Ruthie, TJ and NancyEllen, I am right there with you about the music. I can't concentrate with music on.

I personally found nothing negative in Possum and balletomane's animated signatures, quite the opposite... You would know it was them straight away - as I often read the posts on my cell phone, I have to roll left to right and back to see who wrote and what.. Just mho, sorry for going off topic. |

I am going to be surprised now if I am a secretor when I get the results back.
So much of this fits me well.
