Is it possible for the secretor tests to be wrong? I can relate to everything you guys are talking about and I have celiac disease and dental problems but I just got my secretor status back and it says I'm a secretor. I thought for sure I'd be a nonnie.

Just being an Explorer makes you strange enough. lol No need to also be a nonnie. *teasing*

Oh I usually do   - that's why it makes me jump when it does happen...it's just the times when I am super thirsty that I don't come up for air, that it surprises me

Oh my god. I've found home! Others like me!! Everything on here makes me want to laugh  (and cry happily) because there are other people as sensitive as I am. My entire life I have struggled to have enough energy and strength to take life as well as other people. Constantly sensitive to my environment and whatever I expose myself to, a more delicate system that never had anything wrong "medically". Secretors just don't know what it's like! Try telling other people you are 'not sick but don't have the energy'. The line in the original post above about just saying 'I'm allergic to that' is so true as well. Thank you other nonnie's for sharing on here! Maybe I'm not the alien I thought I was haha

You might be a nonnie if:  You solved one problem of the upper leg lower leg length thing causing normal pants length to change drastically when you sit causing a "highwater" effect -whew... to now having to roll your pants up so as to not step on the now too long pants when walknig and not wearing shoes.  The feeling of walking on the ends of you pant legs is just too annoying.

Having to explain the whole cause and effect to get to the point is probably nonnie thing too

You might be a nonnie if you have to change clothes when you come home from anywhere away like shopping or the dentist.  I can't stand the lingering scents on my clothes. I sometimes also have to air the house out after friends are over to get rid of the lingering deoderant/hand lotion/dryer sheet smells that come with them. They know not to wear perfume but don't get the other things. Once of my best friends told me recently that I was the weirdest friend she had. (I think that's why she keeps me as a friend)

Does anyone know how the inheritence of nonnieness works??

The word nonnie never bothered me but the NON on the new shields did, I'm starting to get used to it, by ignoring it

I am pretty new to GTD (4 weeks in) and am having great results. feeling better and have lost 14 pounds (so happy). I have not yet tested my secretor status. Wasn't sure if I needed to so last night I decided to do a search in the forum and see what I info could find.  What I found made me laugh so hard!!!  I started reading the "You might be a nonnie if..."   What a revelation!  When I got to "Could you please chew your applesauce more quietly" my mouth dropped open (literally).  The entire reason I got on the computer when I did was that I had to leave the other room because my husband was chewing and I just couldn't stay in the room! (he thinks it's funny!) As I read through all of the posts it was like finally understanding myself. Everything rang true.  The not being able to wear wool ( i break out in a horrible rash), not being able to stand a turtleneck or the feel of hair tickling my skin, or having my hair a headband, the not being able to sleep well because every little noise bothers me,  sensitivity to sound and temperature! Anyway thank you all for making me feel like I am not alone! Should I still be tested when it seems so obvious or just start taking the nonnie status into account when eating?

I just filled up our water bottles at the outdoor spring & as ppl arrived one by one to do the same, I could smell each person's "scent" so strongly
Before that we had just been to see a film in a 10 seat cinema & thank goodness in that small room, no one seemed to be wearing obnoxious scents...

& just on Friday night we'd had drinks with a friend & she hugged us both goodbye...& when I got into the car I could smell her perfume on our clothes very strongly...

You might be a nonnie if:

You are on the BTD or the GTD and are a frequent visitor to this forum !

Seriously, though, I have been wondering how many regular posters on this forum are nonnies.  It seems that we are so much more plagued with health/wellness issues that it could be our nonnie-ness (that's a technical term  ) that brings us to the diet and the forum.

Maybe we should do a poll of forum members of how many are nonnies and how many are secretors.

I have gotten through most of this thread and find that I share some, not all, of the nonnie traits.

Here is how my nonnie-ness expresses itself:
I have definite light sensitivity.  When I was a child and got my first pair of glasses, the eye doctor told me that because my eyes were so pale (blue/green), that light would bother me more than most.  He was correct.  I buy excellent quality sunglasses to help with this.  Those halogen headlights have only made it worse.  I try my best not to drive at night any more unless I have to.  In fact, my eyes are so pale that if I wear blue my eyes look really blue and if I wear green my eyes look really green.  How can that be???

I have a very strong sense of smell.  I can smell things that no one else in my family can smell.  One funny story is that when I was in the Massachusetts Army National Guard and away at summer camp, I was the driver for a lt. colonel and his superior.  We were in an open jeep on a long, flat, open dirt road.   There was another open jeep about 400 yards in front of us.  I told the two officers that I did not think it was a good idea for the officer in the jeep ahead of us to be smoking a cigar because we were supposed to mimic battle conditions and I could smell the smoke, thus the enemy might smell it as well.  Both officers looked at me like I was crazy and said they didn't smell a thing.  The officer in the jeep ahead of us then turned to the side and the three of us could clearly see him holding a huge cigar in his hand.  We all laughed, but I thought it was strange that they couldn't smell the cigar smoke and they thought it was strange that I could!

Also, I have a couple of friends who wear strong perfume or aftershave.  When they kiss me upon greeting me, their perfume/aftershave smell gets on my face and clothes and I can smell it until I shower.  I also smell things in my house that no one else in my family can smell.  Sometimes I will search for the source of the smell for a couple of days.  I usually find the source.

I am a very light sleeper.

My teeth are filled with fillings, crowns, etc.  In fact, I need a lot of dental work right now.  And yes the sound of the dentist's drill makes me break out into a cold sweat.

Heat and cold bother me.  The fall is my favorite time of year.  Warm days, cool nights!

However, I can wear turtlenecks, wool, shoes and socks with seams.

Hair doesn't tickle.

I am an extrovert (ENFP-Exroverted Intuitive Feeling Perceiving)

That is funny that you smelt the cigar smoke... Let's hope the enemies weren't nonnies too

When you mentioned that halogen lights really bother you, it reminded me, I had to turn off one set of lights at work on Friday they were bothering my eyes so much!! We have really hot, strong white (fluorescent?) spot lights all over the shop
I got a strange headachey (without pain) sensation in my eye, with blurring to the left of my left eye & as soon as I went in to another room my eyes recovered My co-worker that day says she has also suffered eye damage from 6 years of working in that store??!!
Looking forward to work on Wednesday Maybe I will have to transfer to the other store (I already work there 1 day) The ceilings are much higher there so the lights are not as in your face It would also cut down some travel time

I only just found this thread. It's eerie, I can agree with everything. Both kids are nonnies too but I'm always thought of as the weird one.

When I wake up in the night it's nearly always because of a loose hair on the sheet or pillow!

When I was young my place in our car used to be behind my mother on the passenger side. she always wore Channel No. 5. I used to feel sick from the minute I got into the car until a good while after I got out. Nobody ever understood. Even now after 40 years the smell of it now turns my stomach.

Another thing ...
when we're playing boardgames or cards in the evening at the coffee table, my daughter leans with her knees against the table and whenever she moves the table just a tiny bit on the wooden floor I go mental. I have to re-align it every time (as well as the newspapers, the dining room table, the bed, etc., esp. after hoovering - I can't let anybody else do it).
