After reading the stuff here i am for sure i am non secretor.  I dont need the test.

I am a newbie here and i would just like to know the fastest way to get started and start the healing process. I am having all the symptoms of CFS which i think is due to mitochondrial malfunction. Mentally i have ADHD and severe anxiety.  I had a bunch of really bad things like death of loved ones and divorce and car crashes and business failure all happen at once and i have not recovered.   I fit the DSM IV criteria for PTSD aka post traumatic stress disorder.

Where can i get started to get the most benefit?

There are so many books, and i am not sure which one to read.

I would also like to know if i read
EAT RIGHT 4 YOUR TYPE, 2001.
Will it be much different from the newest books?
Any help or guidance will be appreciated.

Much Mahalo

Welcome to this wonderful board & the world of the BTD!
You are sure to get encouragement here. We care. I hope you are resting & getting light exercise to work throught your grief. You need to deal with it, not just forget.

I am sure I am a nonnie, too. I finally ordered the test, but need to get over a coughing problem to take it.
But sometimes, we just know what we are!!!!!
Aloha!

HI Scott and Welcome.

The biggest bang for the buck (imho) is to turn to the type A pages of either ER4YT or LR4YT and highlight all the beneficials that you love anyway. Go out and buy a whole bunch of those beneficials and start eating them.

Eat simple meals like "cod, carrots and peas"  or "brown rice sauteed in olive oil and garlic and onions". Make these favourites your staples for when you can't think of what to eat.

Now that you are munching on some fresh pineapple and drinking a lemonade made with honey and fresh lemons, you have time to read the books more in depth.

I found starting this way was easy and later I had enough energy to change other things.

Later I found that cutting out wheat, milk and cheddar cheese completely got rid of my anxiety and a host of other problems. For me it was an overnight occurrence.

I started on the secretor diet, then I went to the non-secretor diet, now I am trying the GTD diet.

All the diets will help you in some regard because they all cut out additives and get you to simplify what you eat and you will learn to observe the effects the foods have on your body.

The bottom line is that only you know what will work for you . You just need to get in touch with that information that is already within you. The books are strong guidelines to get you doing that. The website is so you know you are not alone and that it is possible to improve every day.

Be kind and gentle with yourself.

You really can't know your secretor status without the test. People have guessed wrong both ways (me included  ). You may have guessed correctly, or you may not have

I'd start with Live Right 4 Your Type. It has everything you need to know. Double check the food lists with typebase http://www.dadamo.com/typebase4/typeindexer.htm and you're set.

And as Gillian said, adding in as many bennies as you can is the way to go.

Hello everybody, I have heard that there might be a correlation between being RH-negative and being secretor negative (non-secretor).

Does anyone know anything about that? Also I've read about green eyes and secretor status that there might be some correlation.

I have fibromyalgia (autoimmune disease) and green eyes, I am RH-negative and Le(a-b-) from blood test but do not know secretor status.

not necessarily, I as opposed to you am an RH positive yet a Lewis double negative like you, and we generally are considered non secretors.

doing the spit test will definitely point you to either a secretor or a non secretor status....

I am new to this so I did not know how to display the shield. I will get tested for secretor status but I  wonder if theres anything that might indicate secretor status.

I have read a lot about Blood Type, Secretor and Lewis and have the book Eat Right For Your Blood Type. Since I was tested Le(a-b-) for Lewis I cannot determine yet what to choose from the diet.

No, I did not know about newer books about this until recently. I haven't had fibromyalgia either before, became sick year 2001. Now after searching for correlations between blood groups I became interested in this again and have read some about secretor status and some suspectibility to get certain diseases. I then took Lewis blood test wich came out Le(a-b-). Some things about autoimmune disease, I have diagnosed fibromyalgia and recurrant urine tract infections is something I think I can recognise from the stuff I have read about being a non-secretor. But then I also read about having green eyes means being a secretor.

Do you all "nonnies" know that being a non-secretor also means being protected from most common strings of noroviruses, do not know what you call it in english but in Sweden it is called "winter vomiting disease".

I have also blue-green light eyes, Medium blonde hair. I took a Lewis test from my blood central, I've been a blood donor but now I cannot give blood because of fibromyalgia and eating sleeping pills. Is there anyone else that have fibromyalgia who know their secretor status (or Lewis) or are anyone with non-secretor status having certain health problems?

Hi Scott,
I'm so excited to see a fellow Hawaiian.  Welcome !  I'm pretty new to the forum too even though I started the diet 1 year ago.  I used to see someone from Maui & tried to talk w/ her.  My suggestion would be to take the GTD/BTD survey, click on the program tab & select which diet is best for you.  I started w/ eliminating the avoids first because of my health issues I suspected that food was triggering my symptoms.

Aloha!
