Are there anyone with a nonnie in their family keeping pets? Our type O 10 yo girl wants a dog and I find this situation a bit difficult. We already have a kind of bunny that lives outside during summer but when she moves inside I start to experience strange sensation in my troat. This happened too when we went to see a puppy. I've had a small dog when I was very young and can't remember having any symptoms back then. We're now thinking about a particular breed that is said to be easier to live with if you show allergic symptoms.

I do the aunty for Balin a snowbearle of cotton de tulear... I love him so much but don't want to have a pet right now....makes me too dependend and this is the first no-no for me in those times

O nonnie here with a lab/husky dog.  Not sure about the rest of the families' secretor status', but I am guessing nonniehood throughout.    Don't seem to have any problems since we got him which is over two years ago.  If you are showing symptoms of allergies I would check out the puppy you are getting first.  It would be heartbreaking to have to give it away soon after you got it.

Isa y'a a storyteller...huh what has happend in Greece on Samos....felt in love with a younger lady on 4 paws and couldn't get her at the right time...so far was obliged to let her on Samos ....and here if that have worked.... I'd be happy doggyowner now... but it hasn't; -  so far perhaps both of us are happier now

I'm not sure that nonnie status has much if anything to do with allergies.  I am severely (like above level 6 on a 6 point scale) allergic to cats and yet continue to live with one.  It seems I'm more allergic to those that I don't live with, but we do have to keep her groomed and the furniture well vacuumed.

People tend to be less allergic to poodles and they come in a variety of sizes. See if you could "borrow" one for a weekend.

I've heard this too, however, my daughter used to be babysat by a lady who had a poodle. This particular poodle didn't bother her. A few years later, she watched Jamie for one day. The first poodle had died, and she'd gotten another. Jamie was broke out and wheezing when I came to pick her up. I don't know if SHE had changed thru the few years or if it was the dog. The 2 dogs basically looked like the same type of poodle, but...............  will never really know, just wanted to mention it.

No animal allergies in this family...

Have lived with oodles of kitties all of my life. Currently living with 5 of 'em and also do lots of rescue work with felines.

No problems here, and I'm a "super-nonnie" (Lewis A-/B-).

My husband is a B-nonnie and grew up on a farm with all sorts of animals. He has never suffered from any allergies towards animals - only hay fever when grass is in season and during harvest.

He and his sister often fell asleep in the dog's bed when they were little - no problems at all.

Exactly, kids who grow up with animals are less likely to develop allergies.

I'm an O nonnie, grew up with kitties, have 3 kitties and 1 doggie now, and I have no allergic reaction to any of them.

Grass and oak pollen...well, that's a horse of a different color...

Thanks for sharing those wonderful photos again.  That one of Kioko scratching the tree is one of my favorite cat pictures.  I especially like those huge paws and ears, and the way she has her ears pinned back, like she is digging for blood!!

I just love that little Ewok!  She is really a delight.

You know, they say that sometimes mothers worry that they won't be able to love a second child as much as their first, as they just can't imagine loving anyone as much as they love their first child.  But then, somehow, once the child is born and they fall in love with "it" (her or him *lol*), they realize that they can and do love each child in a different way, but just as much.

Well, after I lost my 20-year-old beloved cat, Ollie, I really wondered if I could ever love the new kittens anywhere near as much.  Ollie gave me so much joy.  Well, while it is different, I have to say that I get SUCH a kick out of Kioko, so much delight...so much joy.  Just shows ta go ya that one should always try to keep one's heart open, as there are a lot of beautiful souls in this world just waiting to populate it, if you will let them in.

P.S.  I have new pics of the bits waiting to be developed, including some action shots way up high in a slash pine--tee hee!  Hijinx galore!

Can't wait to see them!!

I have had a pet dog since I was 4 years old (50 years ago - several different dogs, not just one ).  I have also had a rabbit for the past 15 years (Bugs Bunny just passed away this past August) and now have had a cat for the last 10 years.  I don't seem to have any allergies to the animals but occasionally have a few minor symptoms to pollen or something flying around outside.

I know that's not nice from me to write it down...but truth is truth  

I've had allergies to just about anything with fur since early childhood. I outgrew most of them, but still have some problems. Here's what works for me: nettle leaf. I take two caps as needed every day, and my allergy symptoms are mild to non-existent. Nettle also helps tone down hayfever and springtime pollen allergies. Give it a try.

That nettle leaf DOES work well, doesn't it? ! ? !  
I have been pleasantly surprised everytime I remember it enough to use it.  And it works very fast, whereas Quercetin also works, but more slowly for me.
