Mangosteen has 43 Xanthones in comparison with ST John's Wort which might have contain one or two Xanthones
same as the Xanthones in SJW that cause the reactions in type O's.
it's a MAO (monoamine oxidase) depressant
which O's should not eat

I believe that honey is an avoid for O non-secretors.

Sheryl, If you know you are a non-secretor it would be helpful to everyone reading your posts if you would change your blood type shield avatar in the member center to the type O non-secretor version. Then you can remove the notation indicating the same below your type O unknown secretor status avatar.

Hi Howard,

if you look at typebase 4 and read the blurb on honey ... you will note that there are two kinds ... so does this h0ney=avoid for O-nonnies refer only to one type or to both?

I assume the 'avoid' applies only to the regular 'heated' honey.  Heating honey not only destroys all the enzymes [a big + for honey unheated], it also re-arranges the molecules of the sugars.  This effect alters the sugars from being anti-fungal to fungal-promoting.  I think that is the big problem for 0-nonnies.  And so I prefer to treat - unheated (or comb honey) as an 'unknown' rather than an avoid.

From personal use of such honey ... it fits right in with Lola's list as long as it remains unheated ... no for cooking ... but OK for a blended smoothie as one example.

John

Yeah, that is good info.  I stopped eating raw honey because I thought it was a no-no. Maybe now as a special treat!!!

Newbie here...I read somewhere that Stevie sp. (and other non-caloric sweetners) might raise blood sugar and for that reason is not good for a low carb diet.  Does anyone know if that has been confirmed?

Stevia leaf is a natural product that has been used for at least 400 years as a food product, principally as a sweetener or other flavoring agent.
Stevia is an avoid for type O non-secretors
and type B secretors.

use vegetable glycerine instead......
