Hi, as non secretor I always (since the age of 14) had trouble to loose weight. With Dr. Atkins diat I lost a lot of kilos to 67 kilos in the age of 19 ( from eighty kilos when I was 14) . When I stopped living after that diat, I gained weight and now in the age of 46 my weight is 101 kilos. I'm 1,86 meter high . I don't know what size it is in english and how many stones I have, but it's simply too much . I think it's my non secretor which keeps me away from loosing weight. I recognize that Harmonie (D'Adamos stuff) helps me very well. I reduce carbs I 'am drinking two lemon at night after 22: 00 and so on. Well I think I'am doing a lot of things to loose weight but without very much sucsess. (I hate practising sports a lot of ). I take my bice and  dog for twenty minutes a day. That's it.   Do You have other suggestions to loose weight ?

I believe type A nonnies may have certain insulin resistance issues, when overweight.

It looks pretty much like high fiber, low-glycemic carbs, eggs and oily ocean fish. Other oils can be bumped up a bit also. Get some in, but take it easy on the soy.

'Liver work' will also help. Personally, I think non-secretors have problems controlling lipid peroxidation in their bile ducts. This may be because of some alteration to their 'reticuloendothelial' system (the white blood cells in the liver) to compensate for their lack of adequate Secretory IgA, a phenomenon producing what is often simplistically referred to as 'leaky gut syndrome.'

Maybe you should do a castor oil pack every now and then.

This may be a hard one but it works for me every time.  Don't eat after dinner.
Eat dinner at a normal time 5:30-6:30, then eat nothing.  Drink water, if you like, but don't eat.

I agree with you on this one. I try not to eat anything after 6:30 or 7pm if I'm running around with my 9 year old. It does work.

another thing to try:: rise from bed early ... then do the most strenuous physical work of the day ... THEN EAT ... this works for millions of farmers and fishermen ... worth a try!

eh...that won't work with an A... and furthermore a no-no for nonnies...why because he'll get into a
hypoglyc....so far remember A's should prefere 5-6 little meals a day insted of 3 bigger-ones.....

great that I am an A2....... ahem B  but must be honest...I prefere to have more little meals a day, so no hypoglyc. for me either ......

Try drinking you lemon juice in the morning before breakfast. Try to eat more veggies and fruit and limit your grains. That is what is helping me tremendously with the weight loss, after I was on a plateau for a while.

you say it won't work for A's ... wonder if any farmers are A's? ... first learned of this 'trick' some years ago from an Australian biochemist.  It seems that there is a certain enzyme needed to digest any food ... if most of the heaviest work is done BEFORE even a bit of food is eaten, only the fat gets burned ... there is more than one way (several small meals) to control insulin spiking ....

To translate your height and weight to English units you weigh around 222 lbs and are approximately 6 feet 1 and a quarter inches tall. Your BMI or body mass index is 29.2, which means that you are not technically obese but above the upper range of 24.9. Keep in mind though that BMI does NOT take into account actual body fat percentage which is more important. You may be more medium or large framed with a heavily muscled build, in which BMI might not be an accurate indication of what is considered a healthy weight for your height and build.  Assuming that you are more slim or medium framed then you would have to weigh no more than 86 kg or 189 pounds in English to have a BMI of 24.9.

Since you did well weight loss wise with Atkins, I would suggest that you avoid white floured products as well as processed foods. Eat as many unprocessed and natural foods as possible, concentrating on lean proteins, egg, fish, poultry, fesh vegs and fruits and minimal dairy and breads/grains.

Aerobic exercise will also help to pull off the extra weight including excess fat and water weight. Anything that significantly raises the heart rate for a sustained amount of time will help with weight loss. Adequate sleep helps too. If the standard fails to move any weight then you might want to consider having your thyroid and adrenals checked out thoroughly.

I have to agree with the not eating after dinner thing.  I find that when I lose weight, it is typically because I do not eat after around 7pm.  I've tried a myriad of ways of losing a few pounds, and this seems to be the one that most consistently works....

and I agree with you John, there are many ways to Rome ....what I saw in my daily praxis is,
that allmost O's are fine with 3 bigger meals a day and mustn't snack...but A's and AB's are very different here, for maintaining the sugarbalances...better

Thanks very much everybody. I think it over. The only  thing with aerobic practice is (I'm not hard enough with myself)  I realy don't like it. But never mind. I think I'll try the adrenalin tip  that seems to fit. I'll continue to  stop taking to many carb and I'll get the L-glutamine, L-thyrosine and DHEA . Today in the morning I had a little sucsess it's now 99,1 kg nearly two kilos gone (Iknow first you will loose lot's of water ) The way just began. My bloodpressure is going down I think that this is more important for  me than loosing weight . I'll be back reporting

Glutamine raises cortisol levels, which can be a problem if you are types A or B and under a lot of stress.

So be extra careful to manage your stress while using glutamine.

You may want to try some adrenal adaptogens first, as recommended in LR4YT, before trying to use a hormone like DHEA.

What is the adrenalin tip that you are referring to?

Since type AB is more similar to type O in regards to stress hormones (cortisol and adrenaline) I would think that glutamine would be OK for you.

Don & Lola -- This thread came up on a search for DHEA, and I'm so glad!

My nutritionist recently recommended that I take DHEA, but I half-remembered the gal at the local HFS recommending against it, and now I see why.  Funny thing is, my nutritionist has had me on Glutamine since last July, which may explain why I now "need" the DHEA.  She has been extremely helpful on the whole, but I guess all health-care practitioners commit their share of iatrogenesis!

So -- scratch the glutamine and never mind the DHEA.  We'll see how that goes.  At the very least I'll save money.
