Lewis Blood Group System
Incidence Whites Blacks LeA+, LeB- = 22% 23% (non-secretor) LeA-, LeB+ = 72% 55% (secretor) LeA-, LeB- = 6% 22% (double negative; should eat like a non-secretor) LeA+, LeB+ = rare rare
I got these numbers from a presentation on Serotyping Techniques by Thomas A.Kruzel, M.T., N. D., Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine & Health Sciences
I don't know if the numbers are for the world, USA, or some other area. |

Since the list is limited to Whites and Blacks, it's presumably not for the whole world. I would guess it's just the U.S.
Even so, it seems odd that the LeA+B- category of unequivocal nonnies amounts to 22-23% of the White+Black population. I thought the figure for all nonnies was more like 15-20%.
Does this mean that there's a smaller percent of nonnies among Asian-Americans, Hispanics, and other groups? Or that the U.S. has a higher percentage of nonnies than the rest of the world? Or am I overlooking something obvious? |

The frequencies among Asians are similiar for caucasians;however, though there are three separate non-secretor variants among taiwanese. Meaning there are three separate mutations on the Se gene to produce these non-secretor variants. Among the Le(a-b-) populations the majority (80%) are secretors. Captain Janeway, a question. How can one be half a nonnie? Thx. CB. |

I assume the *half* in her sig line describes *O* rather than *nonnie*. I took it to mean her A gene hides a recessive O. My husband and I both know we're not just As but A-Os as we each have an O parent who could donate nothing other than an O gene to our conceptions. |

Good reminder that if your salivary secretor test comes back as secretor, but you feel you may benefit from the non-secretor diet, you may well be a lewis double-negative, especially for the African American population.
