Actually, I'm not sure it ever did. I'm an O nonnie, Hunter. Is there an all purpose oil you all can recommend for baking stuff? I use olive oil for salad type things. But baking.. I don't think that would work well. Maybe it's just the brand of walnut oil? Or have other O's experienced a prob. w/ walnut oil?

What kind of baking are you doing that requires so much oil?

We often use butter in baking, though we do use  grapeseed oil sometimes too. But that's what the kids eat and serve to guests. I don't really eat baked goods other than breakfast muffins. These muffins contain fruit, egg, baking powder, almond meal, and sometimes carob powder. No added sugars or oils.

Didn't say a lot of oil. But occasionally I like to whip up the banana, walnut bread recipe  that's in Cook Right, rather than buy something already made for double the price & have the content.

I did it just now using Ghee mixed w/ a bit of olive oil. I use half measures as it's just me. We'll see how that turns out. Not too concerned w/ fat & calories. I have difficulty gaining weight now. Not that I'm trying.

Odd how I can eat Lundbergs rice chips a couple of times a week w/ no reaction to the avoid oils in that, just the salt content bothers me; but I can't go near canola oil that's in the CR recipe & now it seems walnut oil. I liked to add WO to a fish & rice dish I used to make.

An O non secretor should do okay with almond and that should work okay in banana bread recipe.

Any oil if you have it around for a while can go rancid. Therefore, you might have been able to use the walnut oil when it was fresh and not use it after you had it around for a while.

To determine if the walnut oil you now have is rancid, you might try smelling it or tasting a drop by itself (sometime oil is rancid even when you just bring it home from the store).

Walnuts are supposed to be a beneficial, but they don't agree with me either.
It's OK as I don't care for them too much. I like pecans/almonds & they work for me.

No walnut oil for me, either. What about rice bran oil. It keeps wonderfully without refrigeration and is a diamond for me. I love it!
