Hi, friends.  My Mom had knee replacment surgery on 1/8/13.  Prior to surgery they did a myriad of tests on her including a nasal swab for staph.  They found a bit of staph so prescribed an antibiotic (without a companion prescription for a probiotic).  Mom will be 82 on 2/9/13.  The only Rx she was on was Crestor.  Other than the knee, she was in great health with a bit of rheumatoid arthritis.  She had the surgery, in hospital for 3 days, then transported to rehab facility.  Started losing her appetite first week there, then second week started having increasingly persistent diarrhea.  Last Friday night, 2/1/13, the frequency of her bathroom trips had increased to once every 15 minutes.  She was dehydrated, wouldn't eat and getting weaker by the hour.  They tested her positive for C. Diff.  Never heard of it before last week.  Reading lots about it and know that we caught it in time before any injury to her intestines, but she's still miserable.  They have her on 3 antibiotics, crestor, a blood thinner because she's bed ridden, tylenol for pain, finally Lactobacillus and a couple of other things I can't recall.  They want to release her tomorrow, Thursday, 2/7/13, and she's just not physically ready.  We're going to appeal the release with Medicare.  We are learning that we're going to have to quarantine her to her bedroom until this clears up.  I'd love to know if there are any other O-s out there that have lived through this and if you've taken any homeopathic/holistic approaches to killing this bug.  This was preventable in my opinion had the doctors given her a probiotic along with the first round of antibiotics.  Has anyone tried things like garlic, or Dr. Hulda Clark's antiparasite protocol, Paragone, food grade H202, or anything different than that.  She's afraid to take anything bizarre or risky.  I pray that one of you wonderful people have some helpful advice for me.  We are aware of the fact that we need to clean everything with bleach with a 1/10 ratio, more than frequent hand washing.  Gosh...gotta get to bed now, but want to post this message.  Thanks so much....God bless...

Saccharomyces Boulardii is supposed to be able to kick out C.Diff. - should be easy enough to obtain also.

Wishing you all the best.

Natural Health Treatments for Super-bug Infections (Not Blood Type Filtered) so Adjust to yours. oxo

First and foremost, prevention truly is worth a pound of cure. You want to keep your intestinal flora in top shape. That means: Avoid those things that we mentioned earlier that can decimate your beneficial bacteria – things like chlorinated water and foods laced with antibiotics.

Make fermented foods part of your regular diet. If you eat dairy, then yoghurt and kefir are possibilities. Make sure the cultures are live; some commercial yoghurts pasteurize the yoghurt after it's made to extend shelf life. But if you do that, there are no live bacteria left. Also avoid yoghurt with high levels of sugar which feed things you don't want like Candida. Even better are fermented foods like tempeh, sauerkraut, kimchi, and kombucha.

Use a good probiotics supplement regularly…and especially if you've been exposed to a round of antibiotics. Keep in mind: nature abhors a vacuum. If you kill all the bacteria in your intestines – good and bad – and you don't actively repopulate with good bacteria, bad bacteria will use the opportunity to take over.

The yeast, S. boulardii is a tropical strain of yeast isolated from lychee and mangosteen fruit. It is often marketed as a probiotics in a lyophilized form, and as mentioned earlier, it has been shown to maintain and restore the natural flora in the large and small intestine and even the Mayo Clinic recommends its use in the treatment of C. diff.

None of these antibiotic resistant bugs are resistant to rapid changes in pH, nor can they ever become resistant to iodine so sodium bicarbonate and iodine are excellent medicines that should be used to fight the upcoming plague

Use immune boosters to keep your immune system at optimum levels. Remember, almost all super-bugs are opportunistic. They tend to infect people with weakened immune systems.

I would add that Ozone kills most things, get an air generator or better still one that ozonates water - you can then use it to obviously ozinate the water but also use it to "cup" any area on the body near where the issue is or to dose the ear  etc. check details and make your own decisions of course.

But ozone works for me and people I know.

I wish I had known about this last June. A neighbor died after being in the hospital for 31 days, and she had C. Diff.

This is the new world.. we get sick in hospitals .. they should keep well patients away from sick patients..

I would have taken mom home first chance, then be vigilant to make sure you protect your self.. Mom will get better, but good food is the first rule. she can not get better in a place like that..

OK if you leave her there it will take longer.. but then after, please put her on good food and in a clean environment, including daily trips outside into the sun to heal the body.  Use gloves.. the problem is that once she has it, it might lay dormant, so becoming vigilant about all sort of things like door handles, washing hands, and the teeth brushes and coffee cups is a must.

Buy the smallest tooth pastes in tubes and throw out left overs every so many days..  Get her to use gloves as often as she goes to the bathroom to clean up the sink and toilet with anti bacterial soap.. wash underwear and dish towels separately..

As mom is weak, help her to change her own environment by keeping all surfaces clean, soap is enough,, wash furniture arm rest and the like, and wash floors as often as dusting.  It becomes a way of life after a while,,

Pull-up pants, the smallest size, are a must. YOU MIGHT investigate the pullups for men, they are less bulky and work as well even though they are higher in front.... They make mom feel comfortable enough to walk away from her bathroom.  she becomes a prisoner of the bathroom routine if pull ups are not ready available.. have her change them as often as needed.. or add a thin pad so she can throw that out every time she goes to the bathroom.  Its a little cheaper, but worth the effort, and provides freedom to mom..

All the best.  where you tested?  you should if you where the care giver before you found out..

The antibiotics LONGTERM is a must as otherwise she will remain ill..sorry..

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

The overgrowth is already inside her-- Goldie cleaning the outside will not make a difference.

She needs to fix the inside-- the fecal transplant is abouty 90% effective and I bet higher if it is repeated more then once.

I think the problem with C Diff is that the antibiotics are not very effective against that particular germ, while other strains of healthy flora succumb to the drugs. She needs a range of healthy gut flora to keep the C Diff in check.
