Any men here, or in the lives of women on the board, like to dance? Consider it part of their fitness program?

I love Modern. When it feels good I even like ballet.
In fact I like it so much I thought it was going to be my life. Then I learned about Dr. D'Adamo and all of his work as I was in a program. The program didn't work out, and now I know why. I can't blame Dr. D'Adamo for it, but sometimes I wish I didn't know... I haven't liked my life since I've been separated, it has been years, and my health has only gone downhill, ultimately.
So yeah... I like Dance. |

Not clear, DoS: You're saying you're sorry you don't dance anymore or as much? You were in some sort of dance program? Amazone Isa: You're saying you know a man who dances in all these forms, for fitness? What BT is he? |

Yeah. I wanted to tour and eventually teach. There is no point in doing it now. I was rejected from the program. |

I'm sorry, that must have been hard. Sometimes life throws us in a different direction than what we had planned, I know mine has. I wanted to be happily married and planning for retirement, instead I'm single and looking at medical school |

Hi, DoS. I also was a dancer. I had opportunities in ballet that I turned down; then I went into modern. Studied Graham in NY. Feel free to share re your dance preferences / background, including whatever still interests you both as dancer and spectator. |

I don't have the words for how much I liked to be more articulate than other people. I'm the pickiest, elitist, person when it comes down to transition between moves, what your hands are doing, etc. I know people claim it is in the face but I think that is only partially true, and mostly true for family and friends. Also though I have huge problems with inability to stretch hamstrings. My inability to stretch and become more flexible limited everything I did. Also I would get rushes to the head or crash on energy. I would forget what I was doing. When my digestion was normal I actually did pretty well though. The school I went to has some of the best teachers in the region. I know because I went to a conference and found out how cold, ridged, and unimpressive other students where with their dance. Aside from some uppity ballet schools, our department made athletes that were on levels with other athletics at the school even if they don't get and respect or $. Another complication is that being unable to physical move in the exact way you should due to muscles that will not become lose, is that, being overweight and not wearing really tight clothes make you look like you are not articulating what you can. I got comments about not learning stuff but it was a bunch of c**p because I knew exactly what I was suppose to be doing whether I could or not. There are a lot of dancers that were not that serious and not that good at remembering and having flow as me. But they look better and can do anything asked of them if you can convince them to do it right. Sadly it was a little gender biased because women that where not that great, or only good at choreography, got to stay in the program. I couldn't be friends with hardly any of them because my brain is too over-active. I think way too much. Not exactly a jock minded person. I'm trying really hard to believe I can find a love that is as good; but I might be fooling myself thinking another human can fill a bit of a void. I certainly am very far from finding something else I like to do in the same way. I don't have the level of respect that I do for dance, in anything really, yet. I hate that I am getting older. Because if there is any chance I just was doing something wrong and could go back to dancing... Well it is a lot better to be actively doing something instead of hoping things pan out where you are not the deciding factor when looking for love. Dance is just amazing. It has magic in it like movies and theater. But it is so vastly different, a very different kind of expression. It just blows me away. I don't even know how to entirely define it. If I could I would explain it. |

For a question like that you would expect me to surface, ! Of course my love is BALLET!!! DoS, it is never too late to go back to the love of your life. You don't have to do it for a career, but just do it for enjoyment. I started picking up ballet at the age of 35 and have been enjoying it ever since . Stretching is difficult at my age and I sometimes get injuries that would last quite a long time. However, these obstacles and other challenges only make the dance form more exciting for me. I feel like it's a lifelong learning that I'm engaged in. |

I don't enjoy it unless I take it seriously. |
