Bedtime for all decent, law-abiding A's is no later than 10 PM. I break this rule when I am worried, and then it rebounds on my (bone marrow, brain, liver whatever.)

Remember that old t.v. station message every night (still extant 20 years ago): " It's 10 o'clock: where are your children?" Oh if only we had those times again!

Please help list the recommended sleep times for each Type so that I can get a grasp on peoples' different circadian rythyms. Thank you.

huuuh... no way... we don't have problems with cortisol... but catecholamines ... expressis verbis the explorers I think... might be warriors and nomads might be more related to the purest A-types ....and also the teachers... but not us... I love such contradictions...coz always I get em out of all the infos...ha-ha-haaaa
that'swhy we seem to have an extra portion of energies .. yup so it is.. but sometimes even us might crash...

I like staying up until about 11 to 12 am and maybe 2 am on weekends, but sometimes earlier.  Never was one to pull all nighters even in college.  My bed time never passed 3 am.

I do not like going to sleep before 10 pm, because i will not sleep.

I naturally wake up about 8 am but usually get up at 7 on weekdays.

Each organ system has a "prime time" in a 24 hour cycle where the energy, life energy, chi, qi, etc. is focused in that area.  Not sure of the exact table.  The seasons of the year also effect these times, and even the weather and pressure outside.

When I was younger, I never tuned into my natural circadian rhythm...I never noticed it....My activities
and schedule were dependent on the many things I had to do in any given day and I truly wrecked
my health in college (wound up with mono) because I got so little sleep...and took naps in the
afternoon if I pulled an all nighter.

But what I noticed by having less of a programmed life is that my natural time for feeling sleepy is close to 10:30-11:00 pm.... and my natural wake up time is about 7:30-7:45 am.  It happens
automatically and if I pay attention and go to sleep when my eyes start feeling heavy, I fall right
asleep and wake up the same time every morning.  Seems to have nothing to do with sunlight,
times of year or anything...My bedroom is dark enough so nighttime is always nighttime.

I think what could wreck the sleep of a type A individual is stress combined with high cortisol.

I suppose violation of the natural rythm results in disruptions in the body's natural processes (bone formation, clearance of stress hormones and so on) and some unexplained problems might just be results of the violation of the CR!

I have adrenal fatigue and I am supposed to be asleep by 11pm at the latest. It is a very rare night that this happens. I usually can't get to sleep before 2am. This really sucks, because I have had multiple naturpaths tell me the adrenals heal between 11pm and 2am no matter who you are. If this is true, it would make since why I'm not doing well. The bad part is with adrenal fatigue most people have a mid day "crash" (which I do around 4pm and 7pm) and then feel lively again after that. This is what makes it so difficult to get to sleep by 11pm. I am most lively between 9pm and 2am. I still usually don't get out of bed until 9:30 to 10am on the week days, but supposedly that doesn't make any difference.

I used to have a similar problem.  The way I dealt with it (and the only thing that worked for me) was to take very small steps toward retraining my body to go to sleep earlier.  I'm talking like moving bedtime up by 15 minutes earlier and staying at that time for a couple of weeks.  Then another 15 minutes earlier for a couple more weeks.  

Also, making my bedtime more consistent helped me a lot, so I wasn't jumping around to a lot of different times throughout the week.  A young person can probably handle staying up later on weekends, but I aimed for gradually (and this took months) making my weekday bedtime between 10:30 and 11:30 pm and my weekend bedtime between 11 and 11:45 pm.

Also the regular use of b12 methylcobalamin has helped to reset my internal rhythm.

I go to bed when I'm tired.  The time varies but stays consistent depending on my habits at the time.  I've always noted though that I need at least 8 hours of sleep to feel fully rested. Any less than that and I will get the urge to nod off during the afternoon.  I know some people are okay with as little as 4 but that is very rare and most are good with any where from 6-9 hours of rest.  I always thought that the times you went to bed did not matter (especially if you're room is dark) but I guess I am wrong since the suggested time for As is 11 PM.

For me the early and middle afternoon (highest points of sun) are my lowest energy time.  I feel my best and work better in the morning, late afternoon, and evening and late evening.

I used to be an all nighter through high school and college and corporate working days ... never even knew about CR and its effect in our health ...  until I started this journey ... I know better now ... these days I trained myself to fall asleep between 7:30pm to 9:30pm  and wake up by 3:30am to 5:00am  ... I guess that makes me a morning person now ... and every minute from the time I wake up is accounted for ... I mean, early morning personal routine, (including meditation and drinking lemon juice) ... breakfast, attending to animals and garden and cooking and of course, attending to these chats ... my health, mind ... so much better now ...

This may help.  Get up between 6 and 8pm, go outside and get some sunlight.  Where sunglasses in the afternoon.  Stretch first thing in the morning. Move that crash nap up to 2-3pm instead of between 4 and 7.   Exercise between 4 and 6pm.  
Also, eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.  Never skip breakfast.  Don't eat after 8pm.  Eat mostly protein and few carbs at the beginning of the day, and mostly carbs/less protein at the end of the day.  Repeat the process every day (including weekends) for 2 weeks to set the habit.  Take note of the result.

For as long as I can remember I sleep from 10:30 pm to 7 am....If I stray from this i pay for it, very unproductive all day and crave things i shouldn't! The best times for me to feel most awake & energetic is between 8am & 8pm.
My youngest Type A has the same sleep pattern as i do, the eldest son is all over the place (personality too
My Type O hubby can survive on five hours for long periods then crashes and will sleep in on the weekend until 10am and feel refreshed (if i slept in i would feel terrible all day)

Hope to work out the sleep thing some day. For the past few years, I have been going to bed between 10 and 10:30 pm and rise between 6 and 6:30 (would sleep later if not for the dogs). I lay in bed for 8 hours each night, but how much I actually sleep is a different story. It takes quite a while to get to sleep, even though I am so tired before I crawl into bed. Lots of twisting and turning follows and I feel like I "surface sleep," never really falling into a deep sleep.

I already tried every supplement recommended on this site and then some. Every night I also wear low blue light glasses (for about 1.5 years) before going to bed for one to two hours. Now I just take the attitude of "it is what it is" since it seems to be out of my control. Luckily, I make it through most days fine but I think the deep mediation I participate in daily may be more beneficial than a nap.

I wonder about my natural rhythms since I haven't been able to balance in that area. Maybe I'm just a hyper hunter. I feel very "overactive" when it comes to settling down and often fidget through the day.
