Today a friend and I were talking about Reading About Food, and even Watching TV About Food.
I was relating how I've been known to get so absorbed in reading a really good cookbook or book about food that I miss a meal to do it. Then I added, "It must be the type B Visualization thing!"
How about y'all? Does visualizing food, writing about it or reading about it, have the kind of power to replace a meal? For me, that's Real Proof that Bs are mastering matter with mind. |

I take visualizing to mean 'using your inner eye', so to speak
internalization..... |

Me too! Even reading a novel, if the author describes food in great detail, can have the same effect! |

All I know is that when I'm deep into research and totally absorbed I don't mind missing a meal but I don't believe that to be visualization. |

Wow, What I do when I`m hungry and its middle of the morning during holiday I play computer games and it seems to make me relax. Maybe Its not my body that is hungry, its my mind because brains absorbed calorie especially when you use it. |

I didn't mean to emphasize, with my OP, the subject of "tripping the hunger mechanism". I was simply using as an example of B Visualization-power my own visualization of meal preparation that is so powerful as to often keep me from actually eating. I was hoping to elicit from other Bs their own Visualization stories, and these do not have to involve food, either. |

I think I was born visualizing. They called it "day dreaming" in school and I had notes sent home to mother - but I've always done it. I feel a great power in it, especially when its positive. I can pretty much set the tone for my whole day visualizing it as I want it to unfold. But this is now that I'm focused on my intent and the outcome. Before I was just aimlessly "day dreaming". |

Dr. Viktor Frankl's Man's Search For Meaning is one phenomenal book. In it he tells - among other things - of his days of incarceration at Auschwitz, and how the Nazis destroyed the manuscript he had been preparing for publication when he was captured. During his Auschwitz days, he says, he rewrote the book, word for word, in his mind's eye.
You wanna bet he was a B? Well, he was a psychiatrist, and apparently that's a profession that attracts many B's - may even be B dominated. |

My type B son can also get involved in activities (playing computer games, reading a book, watching TV, etc) and "forget" to eat. Then he gets cranky because his blood sugar drops too low. It can happen during board games too, but it's less likely when there's another person involved who may pause to get a drink or a snack which helps to "remind" him to eat. I have to be really careful to make sure he's eaten before giving him permission to do something where he might get distracted like this, especially before breakfast. |

Well I'm an O and I'm pretty distractable....in fact too distractable. I'm good at visualization but I don't know whether visualizing something delectible would make me forget about eating it.... If it did, it would probably be a good thing. Wish I could just visualize chocolate and feel as if I had just had some. |

No I must eat real food. I've never really tried to visualize it though, not much patience I don't think. I was reading a few weeks ago about being able to visualize life in another reality like a quantam type thing in order to draw some of that reality in to this world. I haven't tried it yet. It's just so hard to sit still and think about anything that isn't one of my on going projects. |

i haven't tried visualizing a meal replacement, but i have visualized many other things. several years ago, after being in a car accident, my massage therapist would often give me visualization assignments to help with my soft tissue injuries. I healed very quickly, he was always impressed with how much and how quickly i healed. another, unrelated visualization technique... i travel a lot through areas that has lot of wild life (deer, etc)... and i have not ever hit one, even though most everyone near my 2 homes has. Everytime i leave to drive, i always ask the universe to make my way clear and safe, and i ask that no animals cross my path while driving. After my divorce, i spent a lot of time visualizing my future partner. I even wrote it all down... luckily for me i found him. I should have visualized him closer to where i am living, but that's okay...i'm an explorer and i don't mind the drive!! |

As an O I understand visualization power to mean the the food is placed in the plate ready to be eaten ... Hunting is so difficult, then prepare the fire, cut the beast up, cook... You B's can have cheese to help you wait... I guess you are not pushed enough . |
