This may be a stupid idea I'm not sure......
I am wanting to find out my secretor status. I have ordered a saliva kit but have struggled for 3 days with getting any saliva. I have a spare Eldon card and was wondering as I am a type B and my partner a type O - if I were to put some of his blood in the "B" circle (which would produce no agglutination/antigen) and then if I put some of my saliva in the same circle and the blood then agglutinated, would this prove that I must be a secretor? Hope this makes sense. |

You need to use some methods to stimulate saliva... sniff a lemon... or cook some food to encourage your saliva to get produced.
Not sure if your method would work. |

Try it for the fun (or experimentation) but do the secretor test, also compare the two and let us know, if it worked, that would be good to know. If it does I could afford to get another eldon card, sooner then a secretor kit.
As for the saliva, relax, close your mouth and see if it fills up. Mine does. |

I've thought about putting saliva on an Eldon card too, but I have no idea if it would work ??? |

There may or may not be enough B antigen in your saliva (if you are a secretor) for that to work.
If you don't mind using up the Eldon card this way (vs using it to test the blood type of another friend or family member) then it can't hurt. If the blood coagulates, you know you're a secretor. If it doesn't, you haven't proved anything at all. You might be a non-secretor or this method might simply not work. |

secretor testing, or Lewis, or erythrocyte antigen panel or however it is called is a different test altogether |

Tom Greenfield, an ND in Kent can do Lewis blood group phenotype. Only caveat is if you type as Le(a-b-) then your secretor status cannot be determined unless you have another type of test such as a PCR based test. |
