Hello,
I am a Group B, don't know my Secretor Status, and I have several issues that I don't know how to approach.  In Live Right 4 Your Type it talks about the importance of Nitric Oxide for Group Bs.  I have a homozygous mutation of the eNOS gene that is involved with the production of Nitric Oxide in the body. I am allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and have just discovered that I have an allergy to casein in milk and milk products too.
I do suffer from all of the things listed in the book as signs of poor metabolism ie. depression, fatique, cold extremities, insomnia, .......
Given how important Nitric Oxide and dairy products are for Group B can anyone direct me to some answers about how to get around these issues and start feeling better?

Welcome, fellow B!

You may want to get a SWAMI in the near future if you have allergies to food. I am allergic to a few things on my food list but am good with the rest. I just eat what I can eat and do really well on it.

Good luck!

Welcome dear type B!

You are in the right place.  Dr. D'Adamo understands our unique nature more than anyone else I've ever found.  There is relief and improvement ahead by working with this system.

My advice is to take it to the next level and really, really give it a chance.  At the very least, I think you should get your secretor status tested.  And if you decide to stop at that level, you can work from the book, LR4YT.

The next level of personalization is the Genotype diet, which is more specific to each individual.  There are 3 possible genotypes that a type B could possibly be.  This approach is a different program than the blood type diet, including your bloodtype in the criteria for determining which genotype you are.

The most individualized program of all at this point is the SWAMI, which is the one I'm currently following.  I worked with the blood type diet non-secretor diet for more than a decade, with great benefit to my health.  Then I switched to the Genotype diet 3 years ago, or so, when Dr. D published the Genotype book.  I liked that even better and saw many health issues just disappear.  I only recently completed my SWAMI and the fine-tuning has been really effective in dealing with my fatigue issues.

I just hope you will choose your entry level and go for it!

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.
Let me not pass you by in quest
of some rare and perfect tomorrow.

Welcome!

You can certainly benefit by cutting out chicken and emphasizing the "beneficial" foods that you know you can tolerate: brown rice, beef, turkey, kidney beans, assorted veggies, etc.

I'm really not too familiar with the NO issue in Bs, although I can help with menu planning and recipe ideas. My 9yo type B son is fairly healthy, so I don't worry about specific medical or nutritional concerns, but I make sure that all family meals are appropriate for Bs.

I have suffered from severe allergies my whole life (since three months of age.) I honestly believe that it is due to my diet. Once you follow this diet religiously - VERY RELIGIOUSLY - you will see a change. I prefer the GenoTyoe diet (I am B+, Nomad...because of my measurements, it states that secretor status doesn't count - it is Nomad anyway.)

I have been able to skip days without allergy meds and have even begun to wean myself off of Prevacid. I am so happy about this. I look better, sleep better, and I have only been 100% compliant for 14 days so far.

Have you had allergy testing to prove the casein allergy?

Melisa, you have obviously posted just fine!

if you are not able to post on other threads, make sure those are not admin or moderator specific, thus the reason you had trouble posting a while ago.

welcome!

okay! i completely understand what you are talking about.

As a B, I should be able to eat dairy without problems. Yeah, i can't. It makes me gain weight, break out, makes me foggy and tired. And believe me i have tried and tried to make the B diet work for me. Every time i cut out dairy, i felt fabulous and i lost weight. I literally had to "break up with cheese".

I recently started on the Genotype program... after a false start (i was following Nomad), i am now following the Explorer diet and i feel so much better, in a very short time... Explorer diet allows for very little dairy.

(btw, today it was confirmed that i am a non-secretor and therefore an Explorer)

You may have better success with the genotype diet, especially if you seem atypical for your blood type.
