I was wondering since the blood types produce antibodies to other blood types and "consider all things in nature that are A-or B-like foreign" if any problems with a mate of a different type is a possibility.
For example kissing and the effect of saliva with a different type entering the body. Maybe its worse for non secretors? |

I usually do use the search feature before posting. On this subject I have searched the words mate and/or partner, type and/or antibodies but did not find what I was looking for. I suppose Ill try again if you think there is something. |

There was a thread addressing this issue within the past couple of years, but if it was in "Little Fishes" it's long gone by now. |

It's my extrapolation that secretor status and mates with opposing blood types could be a key factor in infertility. |

So an AB, Rh positive, secretor male with an O, Rh negative non-secretor female would be the most likely combination for infertility? |

My father was AB- (my guess non-secretor) whereas my mother was O+ probably secretor. I’m an only child and they were married 8 years before having me. |

The female would be a secretor in this example but your example would fit into my basic hypothesis as a whole too. The non secretor female would decrease the chances of infertility with no blood type expression in the uterus. Any opposing blood types with the female being an O would be a separate category. Adding the Rh factor would seem to add to the possibility. |

I don't think excreting your own blood type antigens in a certain location would have an effect on how your immune system responded to foreign antigens in that location. |

It's self vs non-self in an already "hostile" environment. |

The male excretes factors that suppress the female immune system. Women have a microscopic bio-chemical gate that opens and closes ensuring that only a good, fresh egg is available for fertilisation. A trained woman can detect external signs of this protective function of her reproductive system. The technology involved is cheap, will save the lives of some women, and is not given the prominence that it richly deserves. The current widely-available level of obstetric and gynecological care seems strangely brutal compared to this ignored alternative. |

That's for sure, Paul.
Okay, I'll be the first to be brutally honest.
I used to be allergic to my husband. Kissing, not an issue. Intimacy, yes. I'd itch and get a rash and be generally miserable for a day or two afterwords. And it wasn't Candida. I know what Candida feels like, and this was very different. It was an immediate response. I think I was allergic to him.
Enter BTD. Ta-daaaaa! Everything's okay.
I'm an A nonnie, he's a B unknown. We assume nonnie.
Now why we haven't had trouble conceiving, I'll never know. We should have.
I think I've come to the conclusion that my pregnancy sickness was based at least in part on the baby's blood type. The two As were relatively easy. The AB was difficult. The B was excruciating. I was insanely ill. Do As make antibodies against Bs? You betcha. |

What a blessing that you no longer have it! I can't think of anything more likely to dampen enthusiasm for intimacy than an ill placed rash.
You are only one factor away from my theoretical factor-negative woman in post 9. As an honorary Explorer it is not surprising that you exhibit a few quirks. |
