I asked my Dr. about the blood test, he knew nothing of it as it's not a test they perform through social security - then my DH reminded me of the lab he painted a while back (he's a painter/decorator); they do all kinds of analysis. So I called the director and I've got an appointment on Monday, and I get it done for free, thanks to my DDH

good to know! mind sharing phone, street, name, location, even email address of the lab?
reason I ask is for the many emails I get asking where to perform the testing in Spain. thanks!

I think I might get more then just this test done. No sense in drawing blood for just this.

the whole serotyping panel or erythrocyte antigen testing includes MN status, Lewis antigen, rh status and subtype of A if the person were an A or an AB.

I'll ask but I don't want to push it, as I'm getting it done free of charge..
Lola, their web page is http://www.okilab.es - they test intolerance to foods, which I think is +/- the same as btd, but they also do any other kind of tests.

intolerance to food is called ALCAT test not all together the same as BTD...... physiological individuality is more precise

In the end he'd misunderstood me, didn't know about Lewis, but asked if I could send him info, which I did. Spoke to him on Friday, he hadn't had time to look at the pages but would as soo as he could. Hope he can perform the test eventually

a reputable lab in your area might run complete serotyping panels ask your Dr

okay, I'm a bit confused....I'm not clear on what the serotyping panel & erythrocyte antigen testing proves. I've been to the blood grouping systems & typing techniques page that explains all this, however, it might as well be in a foreign language because I am still lost! Is the main purpose to further customize my SWAMI results? If so, that's great since I'm only 47%. I have already done the saliva test for my secretor status.
Any help in shedding some light on this issue for me would be greatly appreciated!!
I have a question maybe someone can answer. In the options for my lewis blood type there is a+b-, a-b+, and a-b-. So, if I'm a AB Positive, Either my A or B is positive, correct? If my Mom is a b positive would that make me an a- b+? Because strangely, I think my Dad is an A positive and my Mom is a B positive. Can that be? I'll have to double check with them. Or does the rhesus thing in my parents not matter? I'll double check with my parents. I can't remember if my Mom is B pos or neg, but I'm pretty sure my Dad is A pos.

The ABO and Lewis phenotypes are independent of each other. However, the ABO and Lewis genes both use the same H antigen to make ABO and Lewis antigens. It is the presence or absence of the secretor (Se) gene that determines if one is Le(a-b+) secretor, or Le(a+b-) nonsecretor. Le(a-b-) is a result of the absence of a functional Lewis gene. Le(a-b-) can be a secretor or a nonsecretor.
A+ or A- or AB+ or AB- refers to the ABO and Rh factor (Rhesus). Rhesus is completely different from ABO, Lewis and secretor status.
As far as Rh, one or both of your parents has to be Rh+ . Both of them can carry a recessive Rh- gene or neither one may have it or one or the other may carry a Rh -.
Well, I'm a secretor and so is my Mom. That's all I know. I guess maybe doing the test would be a good thing.
