Hi, newbie here,
I have both lr4ybt and genotype book.
main problems are overweight (what's new?), constipation, but what annoys me the most is my stomach which is bloated all the time, not gassy but a bloated feeling and bigger than normal (way bigger  ).
Been eating right maybe 65% compliant it's hard however I was wondering if anyone can recomend which supplements are best for thisproblem, especially stomach

more compiance is the best supplement. Have you taken out the worst offenders 100% ? Nothing stops bloating better than eating right foods and elimainating the wrong foods. 65% compliance is 65% better than nothing but if there are health reasons, 95-100% is much better. You can take it slow but the slower you take it, the slower the results. Nobody is saying it's easy, It's just so much better! Like the old saying goes... you can't keep doing the same thing and expect diffeerent results. The more compliant, the better you'll feel

check all the formulas available for digestion
and also revise the protocols......you might find something to your liking

but as mentioned already, attitude and compliance are key to healing

Have you been tested for food allergies? I used to have horrible stomach bloating too but it pretty much went away once I cut wheat out of my diet.

Welcome to my world.

Wheat, I do not eat anymore even though I love it. Cinnamon rolls are my favorite food ever.

I have trouble with aged cheeses even though they make me feel great to balance gut flora, they stop movement.

Personally I do not share the opinion that compliance and supplements solve it. I have spent a lot of money on supplements. The thing that maybe made me feel the most normal was anti-biotics to be honest.

It does appear blood sugar levels have a large affect on this however. My problem is in order to eat enough to not feel way tired and beat up just walking around I have to consume more than my body is willing to process at a non-constipated level. If I consume less I need quiet a bit more protein to keep me from going crazy for food.

How well is your food digested? Mine for example is not well.

Exercise helps movement, for sure.

cut out wheat, dairy. and be careful not to  drink too much water.

If you like you could let us know the following.

have you had a test for fructose malabsorbtion or sibo?

what weight are you , what height also?

how much wheat do you eat?

how much water and what type do you drink on average each day, and at what time of the day if you remember.

does the bloating start to get worse at any time of the day or generally get worse as the day goes on.

do you eat a lot of fibre?

It always helps to know that in the beginning alot of people (especially A's I believe) experience bloating as their bodies make the transition to eating better for thieir blood type.

Don't be discouraged.  In an above post someone mentioned that supplements per se are not the answer in the beginning.  Along with the proper foods you have to introduce those supplements that are beneficial for As.

This all takes time.  As I understand it at this point in time you are about 65% compliant.  That's OK.  Keep doing research and try different foods.  There are  wonderful recipes you can click on .

If you can drink tea, I would recommend green teas.  There are alot of them out there.
I'm taking a powdered green tea shipped directly from Japan (no where near the disaster plus the tea that they have stored has been in the states for awhile).

If I overeat, and no matter how long anyone is on the BTD we all do occassionally, green tea is very gentle on the system and I never feel bloated after drinking it.  Do some research on green teas that help with weight loss.  It may help you lose some weight but also avert that overly full feeling.

Are you on a quality probiotic like Polyflora?

Greetings all:

As an A+, Teacher with SWAMI modifications, I can say that before BTD and GTD, bloating was a significant issue for me -- almost a daily occurence . . now hardly at all.

In my case, wheat was definitely a contributor, potatoes, most cheeses -- all now avoids for me.   Also, orange juice . . I used to drink it every morning before excercising. By the time I was in the shower, my stomach was so bloated, you might have thought I was pregnant!  Gave that up as well - and by the way, it's an avoid on my SWAMI.

Observe your body and reactions as you go through your day.  Fine tune to suit your needs.

Good luck!

Regards,

Maja

Did SWAMI leave you any cheeses?   And wheat?  Or did you eliminate these two foods on your own?

The reason I'm asking about the cheese is that SWAMI gives a reason for my cheese.

Fridge,

Sometimes the issue is not about percentage of compliance. You may be 80 percent comlliant, and at the same time eating potatoes, dairy products (and significant amount of wheat): that is suffient to cause bloating and other stomach problems!

It's funny how this thread started up just after I spoke to a trainer at Curves the other day.  I had the opportunity to talk to her about eating right for one's bloodtype.  Gave her the example of my youngest grandson (A) who used to eat alot of bananas.  He had terrible eczema on his shins and the doctors couldn't clear it up.  My daughter got him on ERBT along with some dandelion tea and it completely cleared up.
The trainer had read thru a friends book a couple years ago, but didn't pursue it.  She then told me that she was an "A" and that she had been eating alot of bananas lately and she'd noticed how bloated her stomach gets after she eats them and they also make her constipated.  Then she said WOW, maybe there is something to it after all.  Sounds like she may go back to looking closer at it.

I also had bad bloating.  It's been a month on BTD and havent been bloated all month.  I think being 100% compliant with avoids is a big deal.  Haven't added all the benificals but all avoids are on the curb.  Never felt better.

fridge -  a lot of really good advice here.

Get off Wheat, Potatoes and non compliant Dairy you will be glad you did.

Also I don't see your secretor status

Find out if your a secretor or a nonsecretor.   Makes a big dif -- esp for us A's.

I recently learned not to drink with meals and it has helped with constipation.

ok 2 months more on diet (lr4ybt). compliance up to about 90% (some days 100%)
ahaa moments:
no red meat= no more migranes.
no potatoes= no cellulite.
weight loss reasonable however:
:
lost weight everywhere except stomach, because stomach is still the same (or bigger) makes it look huge (as lost weight around it)
Heavy stomach all the time and constipation still.
More energy but still same stomach problems.

sounds like my tummy,

things t look at.  liver, kidney, intestines.

do you drink a lot of fluids. have you ever tried just drinking slightly less juice etc and seeing what happens. I know this is contrary to the norm, but it did work for me.

have you tried eating slightly less, working for me at the mo. have a look at the protocols, I'm just finding out how useful they are.

Have you had kids?

I have trouble with bloating as well, had to have abdominal surgery to repair some muscles from having kids. I went from looking 9 mos preg to about 4 mos preg.

I recently started going to the chiropractor. My spine, hips and pelvis are out of whack and that is causing edema in my abdomen. I can also feel my left kidney in my side...had an ultrasound done...it's my kidney....my insides are all moved around!

When I eat, the smaller I keep my portions the more comfortable I tend to be.

Also through this diet I have learned that my intestines are pretty wacky too....

Good luck, I completely understand your frustration!

You might want to try on of the protocols like this one: http://www.dadamo.com/protocols/14.html It seems there must be something else going on with you.

A's and constipation..... Vegetables for breakfast lunch and dinner, green leafy ones are best.

Using the  intrinsia--- plus the A probiotic consistently would be good for you, throw some deflect in as well for good measure.

Gastro D.... and live cell too.

somewhere somebody either suggested or i read that stinging nettle tea helps. I'm drinking a cup now. i can tell you it tastes horrible enough to be good for you in some way. I can imagine if i ever drank dish water by accident it would taste better than this. perhaps it is the smell that puts me off. lol I have a large tin to get rid of. I'm thinking house warming present of someone i don't really like.

Hi Fridge

Might be worth a visit to your doctor just for a check up re gynae thing like fibroids etc, especially if you feel bloated all the time including when you wake up in the morning.  If all ok  and you are constipated might be worth adding a fibre/probiotic supplement am and pm before meals, or ?digestive enzyme.

Good luck

Still the same problem with bloated stomach and constipation.

Thinking of ordering some protacols probably deflect and polyflora
To start. Interested to know as to how long it takes them to react!! I have constipation, would I start moving very quickly then!! Would I have to allow for being near a toilet??

Thanks in advance, you know we all need to plan!!

While it is hard to guarantee anything, Deflect and Polyflora usually act to balance the system, rather than push aggressively to any extreme.  They start to help you immediately, but it is a balancing type feeling rather than Slam, Bang, you're done...  True healing naturally takes longer than just suppressing symptoms or ??? that many drugs tend to do (at least with me).

Do you have alternating constipation an diarrhea?

Your gut flora needs some care.

Are you eating any wheat or packaged products? What to you eat on a regular basis?

How many arch fingerprints do you have? A's tend to get more constipated as they age.

Grapefruit daily in the morning works well for me.

I started this way of eating 3 months ago and my main issue was occasional bloating and daily constipation. From the beginning I became 98% compliant with the BTD and completely stopped eating dairy, meat and wheat, potatoes and corn. I dropped 12lbs in 2 weeks and instantly my bloating went away and the constipation got better as well. Then I got SWAMI and started to eat some meats and dairy and I'll be doing great for a while and then get constipated again. So it is a work in progress to fine tune my SWAMI diet and figure out which foods do not work for me. It sure gets frustrating at times, it helps me to keep a daily food log so I can look back. I do currently take Deflect and Gastric-D and Polyflora and it seems to help.

One thing I did not notice being mentioned in regards to constipation is Magnesium.

One approach is to gradually increase the amount of magnesium taken each day until stools become too loose (or you fell it is making your bloating worse).

To counteract bloating some women take 400 to 800 mg of Magnesium each day for the second half of their cycle.

I agree with Andrea.....because it worked for me.

Balanced eating with an emphasis on fresh colorful veggies all day!
Exercise....something daily. Remember to stretch your whole body.
Lemon water when arising in AM...fresh cooked oatmeal 3 times a week, chewy prunes or fresh plums, variety of R4YT teas, grapefruit juice, and daily compliant nuts and seeds!

Good luck!

Exercise helps, for sure.

Sometimes I like to lay down and listen to music. I go into a bit of a trance. It is weird. I think it helps a little but nothing like lemon juice or exercising.

Also enough protein is important. I think that is a major flaw in being Type A... lack of protein from weak digestion leaves you with issues that eventually lead to extremely low stomach acid etc. I have been having some soy protein powder that comes with some enzymes in it lately. Turmeric always makes things better for me too.
