better idea - Cathy Collins, a spokeswoman for the British Dietetic Association, said it might be simpler to target teenage girls and advise them to drink more milk and eat more of other foods rich in iodine, such as seafood.

"I'm not surprised by the findings because teenage girls do not tend to drink a lot of milk or eat a lot of oily fish.

If parents would give their kids a multi vitamin with iodine in it, there wouldn't be a deficiency.

Ugh. Adding it to salt- isn't that why so many Americans have trouble with salt? The corn-based dextrose in iodized salt is trouble for anybody other than a select few A secretors.

Why not encourage kids to take multivitamins or eat seaweed?
