Is it true what Mercola says about it? He says that it leaches iron and other metals into the food and that it is toxic to use for cooking. |

funny one of the reasons i use it is because iron leaches into the food from cooking high acid foods like tomatoes. i can not imagine it being toxic unless you are already too high in iron content. i do not fallow mercola as most of his advise seems bogus but it would be nice if you could link us into the article so we can see what he did say. i would never say he was wrong with out knowing what he even said. |

Mercola is trying to sell you his enameled cast iron cookware. He has a serious conflict of interest in giving this advice ... as he does with most of his advice, unfortunately. There are pros and cons to all choices, you just have to decide what benefits are most important and what costs you are willing to bear. |

Sorry...here it is. I didn't know if anyone wanted to read it, but yes, it would give a deeper clue. http://cookware.mercola.com/ceramic-cookware.aspx |

I was much more impressed with Dr Mercola about 7 years ago than I am now. He used to say "don't use sunscreen! It does more harm than good." Then he found a sunscreen that met his standards, and his text changed to "don't use sunscreen- but if you must, use this one sparingly" which somehow now reads more like "commercial sunscreens are toxic- buy this expensive stuff from me insted!!!" He still includes the "you don't need sunscreen if..." information, but somehow it gets lost in the hype.
Too much of his website now reads like an advertisement. Some of his information is good, some is not so good, but it's hard to tell which is which and the writing style is very sensationalist. It's hard for me to take him seriously.
Try doing a websearch on anything you read on Mercola's website. See if other websites verify any of his claims.
My understanding is that stainless steel is one of the safer cooking materials out there, and it's what I use most of the time (I do have some corningware bakeware, and some glass bakeware too, but my stovetop stuff is all stainless steel.) Nonstick coatings are toxic, aluminum is toxic (even foil and disposable pans, though I do admit to using those sometimes) but stainless steel is a healthy choice. |

Well, I thought that SS was a healthy choice, but M had me wondering....
I chose not to do the web search, as there is so much wrong info out there. I highly respect the knowledge of this community, (which can differ from the norm) so that's why I asked here. |
