My Dr (ND) says you don't really need calcium, you only need to take vitamin D...I forgot to ask him why (prob has to do with the aid in absorption but then again if you're not consuming calcium, vit D wouldn't be much help). Anyhow, I LOVE vanilla hemp milk (Pacific foods) and it has 50% calcium per one 8 oz cup. I am still not 100% sure about hemp milk, but my Hunter diet says hemp oil and hemp seed are ok so I drink it. It has brown rice syrup. It gives me a ton of calcium and is my new love ♥. Try it if you can, they sell it at Sprouts and Whole Foods (unless of course, someone says we're not supposed to drink it, ).
Can O nonnies drink this Hemp milk? I have been looking for a milk substitute. I thought we were supposed to stay away from vanilla . . . |

I HIGHLY recommend bone broth. I have some beef marrow bone broth in the works right now as I type this. You can take some heated broth to work in a thermos to drink, or heat it when you're ready. You can drink a cup at home (I like a pinch of sea salt & ginger in mine) as a hot drink. You can use it as the base for rice or quinoa, or make soups. If you have a crockpot it's so easy to throw some bones and water in and let it become bone broth. Lots of calcium and minerals in that - very good for Os. |

On my SWAMI hemp seeds and hemp seed oil are diamond superfoods, but hemp milk is not listed. Hard to say, but it might be worth a try and see how you do on it. |

Does your little coffee shop offer green tea? That would be a much healthier choice, if you can't resist drinking any of the beverages from work. |

I was considering the mineral supplements, they do sound like something that would help me at this point, just not sure where to find them.
And for the green tea, i do have some, i just kept thinking for some reason it would not be enough caffeine...how silly when we can't absorb it properly anyways. |

Patty if you are O nonnie then you can try the one that is the original flavor hemp milk (not vanilla or chocolate). Since it's not listed I stopped drinking it for a week, then started back up, and it hasn't affected me at all...it actually gives me a ton of energy and I love it. The way I see it is, if hemp oil and hemp seed is listed (hemp milk is made from hemp nut/seed), then it should be ok. But as with everything, it's best to try and see how you do individually. |

I've found I have some problems in my hemoglobine. Maybe I eat too much calcium (bigger amounts of almonds, compliant nuts and seeds - sesame especially) and not enough iron containing foods right now... and primarily, I don't exercise enough! An interesting thread. Thank you all |
