Try toasting the rice cakes very lightly - just watch as they burn quickly, but I love them with ghee and eggs on top - yum!

Yum!  That does sound good (I think it's lunch time).

Or heat them with a compliant cheese on top, until the rice cake is toasty and the cheese is melted.

I also can't have carbs on their own without blood sugar crashes. Either I eat carbs with fat and protein, or I can't eat them at all. If I got sluggish digestion from combining them, I'd probably go grain-free too. But I do fine with grains as long as I keep the portions small, as part of a larger meal.

No cheese for me, I'm afraid.    But I think hollandaise sauce might be a compliant occasional treat...sort of like eggs benedict.

That's me to a T.

Narnia, can't say enough how happy I am for you... and that I share your joy as well.

Today, when I went to my tailor, she suddenly asked me: "So, have you started to work yet?" She thought I am at college age just about to get started in the real world, ! I haven't been asked this question for more than 10 years. Can you imagine how happy that makes me?

I'm totally with you on people's inability to put 2 and 2 together and feel the motivation to at least give BTD a try. Most people are too set in their old habits. Oh well. Count ourselves as the lucky ones

You, too, huh?   I've been wondering how you were faring!  I'm thrilled for you!!!  Isn't it so much fun to go back in time age-wise?

I just can't believe it!!!  One of my friends told me that I look like I'm in my late 30s!!!  And I'm 58!!  I was thrilled!!

Oh well...the ones who don't get the connection are just depriving themselves of a lifetime of good health.

I do like rice cakes, but they make me feel tired afterward.  So, I quit.

Actually, the longer I'm on this diet and I'm training myself to stay away from grain snacks...I'm getting to where I don't crave them anymore.  I just snack on nuts or more of the meal that I had earlier.

When I get hungry, I just go eat another small meal of meat and veggies.  I eat nuts in between.  Sometimes I will crave some fruit and I eat that.  My body seems to know what I need to eat.

The thing that I love about the BTD is that I can eat like a pig...several times a day...even 7 times in one day and never gain an ounce.  However, if I cheat and eat 1 slice of bread while out, I gain 2 lbs. overnight.  Then it takes 4 days for those 2 lbs. to go.  I could certainly use those 2 lbs. and a few more, but I don't feel well when I'm non-compliant.  So, a couple of those trials and I learned...

I'm still 100 lbs. so I guess this must be my ideal weight.  Now that I'm toned, I do look MUCH MUCH better!!!  I am down to a size 2 and some 4s, so I have to shop online now, as the stores in my area don't carry much in size 2.

I'm just beginning to feel that now.  It seems a little scary, but I'm discovering it's best to trust my hunger, as I'm beginning to mostly crave my SWAMI foods, and not so much the ones I ate before.  Congratulaions, Narnia, on having found what works best for you!
