I have been experienced age reversal, and this article seems to support the BTD for Os restricting grains and carbs.

Yes!  I marvel every day!!!  I stayed compliant for the most part during T'giving and didn't gain an ounce or feel bad!  I kept really late hours, too!

I asked my friend what she was serving and I made compliant dishes to add to her meal and everyone enjoyed the new dishes.  Her daughter actually commented that some of the dishes were her favorites!  She doesn't like really sweet stuff, either, like sweet potato casserole...loaded with sugar...I just don't understand why people add sugar to foods that are already sweet!  Just plain steamed yams went over great!

I added a salad and garlic dressing, and made a dish of parsnips and carrots.  My favorite food with turkey!!

I also took fresh pineapple for dessert.

Yep!!  It's fun to feel great!!  : )

I was noticing how great my knees felt while walking around Home Depot (all concrete floors)!  Yep, it's working!!

I have noticed that when I eat rice more than once or twice a week, my energy level goes down and I get yeasty.  I'm learning to listen to my body.

So happy for your narnia!!! Way to go! And what a creative thing to do at Thanksgiving. I'm glad you have made people understand that they don't NEED to add sugar to food that is naturally sweet.

As a hunter, I find that restricting grains really helps keep me in good shape and higher energy level.

Thank you, Bellatomane! I wouldn't be surprised if I were a hunter as well.  

I am planning to restrict my grains from this point...the only grain being rice...   I do love my rice, having been raised in a Korean family....  Giving up rice would be anathema!!  

However, I do feel better when I'm not eating grains too often or too much sweet potatoes.

Are you familiar with "bean threads?"  They are thin noodles made of yam flower that Koreans eat.  I don't know if it is in Chinese cuisine.

I was raised in Chinese culture so I know about giving up rice. But once I've started to eat more beneficial meat and lots and lots of veggies, I don't feel I need the rice to fill me up. Of course, it is more expensive to eat this way... but now I also understand that the "function" of rice in our cultures is to make people feel "filled up"! !

Yes, I'm familiar with "bean threads"... yam flour, you meant? The Chinese version uses flour made from mung beans, but nowadays I heard they have substituted this with something else, probably something questionable   Still, there are other alternatives like brown rice vermicelli, which I haven't eaten for a long time since I've given up regular intake of grains. Hmmm, makes me hungry suddenly even though I just had breakfast

I do feel younger now than I did when I was half my age.  But I think it says that I was in below average shape for a 24 year old, and now I am in above average shape for a 48yo.  I sometimes wonder how I would've been if I'd been on this diet since I was a toddler.


My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant.  Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index.  DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.

Yes!!  Tjapche or chapche!!  Who knows what the spelling is....but I think you're referring to the clear noodle dish, right?

One of my favorite Korean dishes!!  You know....I think I'll make some tomorrow!!     But....it's no good without rice, so I'd better wait till next week.

Really!  I keep wanting to kick myself for not having gotten on it when I first heard about it  years ago!!

Actually, I don't need rice to fill me up anymore.  I just love to eat rice!  Especially with seaweed, sushi-like.  Oh well...I'd rather feel good than entertain my taste buds.  It's just NOT worth the after-effects!

I remember your early posts.. it's fun to see the transition.. good job.. and all the best !

as for feeling the age.. I went offffff diet for 2 days.. I am suffering , glad to be home again and getting on the program again.  IT is unreal to think what my life would have been without BTD, I would be 50 or 100 pounds bigger, and shuffling down the road with swollen legs all the way to my hips, I would have a  moon face and my fingers would look stunted.. I would be depressed and hopeless miserable..

I am so reminded just how much DrD has accomplished in keeping me as healthy as I am.. the alternative would be tragic.. IN the aggregate I wonder HOW many fewer pounds we all would have gained over the years..

What is becoming REAL for others to DISCOVER is what we here have known for years.. we are younger, happier, and healthier then all others I know of.


Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

remember..rice isn't a grain at all  and only 0 nonnies (gatherer's)  might have a problem with normal rice... BUT normally every bloodtype and genotype can eat *basmatirice* also coz of its low glycemic index...

I come across so many who marvel at my changes.  Although they are amazed, they don't seem to be highly motivated to get on the BTD.   This, I don't understand!  

There are a couple of people that have gotten on it and have reported positive results.  

I myself, and amazed every time I see myself in the mirror!!  Prior to the BTD, when my hair got long, I felt like I looked like a sea hag!  But, now, I look like a younger person with long hair!  The long hair actually makes me look younger now, whereas pre-BTD, it used to make me look dragged down and I needed to keep my hair short and fluffy to give myself a "lift."  I couldn't be happier!!  

I am so thrilled with the improvement in my appearance and the way I feel most of the time, that I feel happier about everything!!

Narnia, can't say enough how happy I am for you... and that I share your joy as well.

Today, when I went to my tailor, she suddenly asked me: "So, have you started to work yet?" She thought I am at college age just about to get started in the real world, ! I haven't been asked this question for more than 10 years. Can you imagine how happy that makes me?

I'm totally with you on people's inability to put 2 and 2 together and feel the motivation to at least give BTD a try. Most people are too set in their old habits. Oh well. Count ourselves as the lucky ones

I get all kinds of rice as a superfood in my SWAMI (not a diamond, though).  I do enjoy it, but I always try to mix it with veggies so I don't eat so much of it.  I can sneak a lot of veggies into a veggie/rice stir fry.  I've been enjoying those lately.  It always accompanies a protein meal.  I seem to feel better on a balance of carbs/protein (probably would have been an ideal Zone diet candidate).  The only diamonds I have in the carb department on my SWAMI is pasta made from artichoke flour, and Essene Manna bread, neither of which I've tried yet.  I haven't been able to even find Essene Manna bread.  I've found gluten-free breads but they're full of avoids.  It would be nice to have a piece of toast with eggs sometimes.  It's important to me not to feel like I'm on a deprivation diet, especially in these early days because I will get frustrated and throw in the towel, so I'm very happy my SWAMI has given me some carbs.  I might indeed be much better off without any starchy carbs at all, but that would have to come only gradually, and I would have to feel a physical reason to cut them out completely and discern the difference.  Might be an interesting experiment down the road.

O in Virginia, how is the value of rice cakes/puffed rice for you? In my SWAMI it's a diamond. I enjoy it occasionally with eggs or other nut butter. You might wanna try it as a replacement for toast... (Hmm, now that gets me hungry...!!!) When you said you do better when combining rice with protein, is it meat that you were referring to? For me, when I combine rice or any carb with meat, my metabolism gets sluggish and I feel so sleepy afterwards.

I have rice cakes as a superfood, not a diamond.  I have one with almond butter or ghee, but I would still like toast as an option.  One gets tired of rice/rice cakes.  Yes, I meant eating rice with meat, or eggs, and with veggies too.  I haven't noticed a sluggish feeling afterward.  If I eat carbs - either sweet or starchy - on their own, it triggers blood sugar issues for me.  I used to eat oatmeal cooked in milk for breakfast sometimes, thinking the milk protein would help keep my blood sugar more stable, but shortly later I would have both indigestion and hunger!

Thanks, Lola!  I asked you about this in the Bread for Os thread when you said you made your own compliant flours from sprouted beans and grains.  That seems like a good thing for me to try soon.

Try toasting the rice cakes very lightly - just watch as they burn quickly, but I love them with ghee and eggs on top - yum!
