Just wondering what foods/ vitamins are the best beneficials. I am going to be going grocery shopping tomorrow and want to pick up foods that will be most healing.
Like what kind of foods do you usually get?
thanks

I have to say "100% grass fed and finished" red meat (organic or from a trustworthy local farmer) is most beneficial. This is where we will not sacrifice quality. If you need to sub out good eggs for part of your protein (because of budget even though eggs are great), do that, but don't get your omega ratio mixed up and risk getting added hormones by settling in this area. CLA is my O hubby's new (2nd) best friend. Quantities don't have to be too big, but quality and frequency matter.
Happy shopping.
Cali, a little jealous, it's freezing here.

I can't manage without some beef every week- I usually get ground beef because it's the cheapest and I'm feeding 3 Os and a B. If you can afford it, go for the grass-fed organic beef. If you can't, then you need to decide if quality should win out over quality. Depending on your specific needs, you may find that you *must* have ample red meat, or you may find that you're overly sensitive to the corn residue in corn-fed beef, and need to have the grass fed even if it means smaller quantities.
Good fish is also important- I like the sardines canned in olive oil.
You also want plenty of veggies- lots of greens, plus orange/starchy veggies such as sweet potatoes, squashes, and carrots.
The plan is to fill up on meat/fish/eggs/poultry and veggies, and to have only small amounts of grains, preferably late in the day. Quinoa is a great choice, as is brown basmati rice, but if you're in a regular supermarket with limited choices, regular brown rice works too.

These are my favorites lately, or rather the ones that make me feel best: Leafy greens like romaine lettuce, kale, escarole, spinach. I dislike cooked spinach but I can eat it raw in a salad. Asparagus. Organic red meats, grass fed whenever possible. Basmati rice. Dried figs and prunes (satisfying to my sweet tooth after a meal). Organic eggs. Onions, garlic, fresh ginger. Sardines. Mahi mahi. Cod. Millet flour for thickening when needed. Sprouted lentils. Carrots, parsley, cilantro, mint, green onions, lemons & limes. Walnuts and pecans are a good snack, although I'm taking a break from nuts this week. Club soda or seltzer, green tea, white tea, peppermint tea, water.
p.s. I can go for quality over quantity of red meat, but I must then have super-beneficial fish. Protein is essential for me, or I will go on carb binges.

Black beans and great northern beans are fine for all Os, if you want to include beans in your diet. I find that beans are great for stretching the food budget and having more variety, but I'd hardly consider them "essential beneficials" that are needed in the diet. I just want to point out that lentils are good for O non-secretors, but not for O secretors. It's best to stay away from lentils if you don't know your secretor status yet.

you have a great name for on 18 year old.. good luck starting life the right way..
there are two lists in my life.. I was BTD according to the test then the green list is good..
if I was prone to getting diabetes as grandparents or parents then I would try the one in blue..
at your age you have some lee way so you may combine some foods as you other wise might be to hungry, since you still are growing.. but what a chance to get so healthy to pass on good genes to the kid you will have.. all the best.. ( there is no difference in any of these foods for you they are alll perfect even if you are a nonnie.. ) and you can eat as much as you wish and will do fine.. so long as you eat only these things you will be in tip top shape.. !! forget about portion nor calories.. just follow my lead.. and then report back how you made out..
organic would be great but if you can not afford then do the next best.. where do you plan to shop?? some stores are better then others.. can you cook your own foods? can you cook three times a day? I do it takes me less then five minutes for each meal.. but fresh cooked foods are so good..
for spices,, you might mix your own.. delish or choose a Cajun spice.. with as few ingredients as possible.. or whatever you can get..
fold this list up and carry it with you.. again good luck..

Ya I like my name. But I'm guessing you were being sarcastic. In that case, I think you should learn more about it before you make judgments.
Oh I got genotype diet. I reserved the book at the library, I'm gonna pick it up today.
Wait why did you say avoid almonds? What's wrong with almonds? And right now I can cook 3 times a day.
Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone.

Lol I could totally see how you read it. haha No. Goldie didn't mean it that way. Not to say anything negative about Goldie but let me explain... She has no idea what "ecstasy" is. She is talking about the emotion ecstasy. Not the drug. This is just of huge case of misunderstanding due to age related factors. And I found it all too amusing. Goldie is a sweetie and was paying you a compliment about starting the btd at your age and was complimenting you on the good emotion used as your name. Awesome! lol

Meat: Lamb is great, while beef can be tainted with avoids such as msg, maltodextrin and other spices and flavorings. That's especially true for roast beef. If you buy roast beef and it tastes (or smells) like French Onion soup, it's probably not good for you.
Vegetables: Broccoli, asparagus, green beans, Romaine lettuce.
Fish: Cod (especially Cod Loin), salmon, trout, all "Wild Caught," if possible.
My SWAMI diet is a blend of BTD and GTD Explorer, but I'm not totally compliant. Also I try to choose foods that have a Low Glycemic index. DW and DD are A+, probably also Explorer.

Wait like the beef you buy at the store? That is like cut up.. I thought there wasn't anything on it?

Thanks, Lola. That's what I meant. Sorry for not being clear. You can find marinated or seasoned raw beef that's got avoids in it, however.
I do wonder if some really cheap raw beef is colored with red dye, though.

I don't buy Boars Head anymore. Lunch is usually a bison or beef burger, or eggs, and a salad or veg, or leftovers from dinner the night before. I've been doing stir fries, too. I'll use some leftover rice and throw in some veggies and leftover steak, or whatever is on hand, season it with ginger, garlic, onion, fresh herbs. I really like the fresh seasonings as flavors. I can eat spinach if I throw it in my stir fry at the last minute so it barely wilts. In a little over two months I think I've got my use of pre-packaged/pre-cooked foods reduced to zero. With the exception of some organic compliant broths. I haven't gotten around to making my own broths yet. And I still eat a rice cake as an afternoon snack with almond butter spread on top. I guess rice cakes count as a pre-packaged food, and the almond butter because I don't make my own. Yet.

check out the liver cleanse, advocating apple juice...... the malic acid content helps pulverize the stones and open the ducts for easy passage.

Apples are a black dot for me, you are right - I just checked my BRAND NEW SWAMI(hee!!). I want to do that liver cleanse. I bought a heating pad, castor oil -- I just have to actually set myself up with it overnight. I think that would be very good for me. I think I will have to sleep alone that night.
