My 12 year old son is autistic and no way is he going to allow a needle near him.. he is terrified of them !
I still don't know his blood type but would like to have him tested. Is there another way? can the GP use his saliva instead?

Does he ever, skin his elbow or skin his knees, or cut his finger, if you have a test kit available, I would think it can be done, at that time.  

Your blood type is B, what is Father's Blood Type, maybe, able to give you a guestimate, for the time being.

What are grand parents types?

His father is an O, my other son is also an O. He would either be a B or O. Ive heard they need to take a lot of blood to find out your blood group not just a small pin-prick, is that true?

Nope just a pin prick on the side of your finger and 4 small drops if you are using the usual typing card.

Sometimes the practitioner already has it or the hospital where the birth occurred may have a record a child's blood type.

I always do all 4 spots.

In this case we have a 50% of being O and a 50% chance of being B.

If one just had a single drop of blood for the B spot on the card that would allow one to determine B or O.

Of course it would be nice to determine Rh, which requires a second drop of blood.

In the US you can get Eldon cards for testing in large pharmacies, I am not sure if that is the case in Australia.
