The glues are pretty wicked...  I had problems with carpet glues and particle board as well...

You seemed to question the ability to have an allergy to emotions...
I can only say that we don't know what we don't know until we either hear/read about it or experience it...  It struck me like kind of weird until I experienced it...

Not invalidating your statement by questioning....more of an amazement...  I had never heard of such a thing.

How does it feel?  Can you describe the sequence of reaction?  I find it fascinating!

First, any allergic reaction can have different "symptoms" in different individuals, so your results may vary...

The first emotional allergy I had was in combination with sugar.  I was eliminating the sugar allergy and started to feel better, initially, but then it seemed like the whole body started to hurt and the energy level just evaporated.  I went back to the Dr. and after a very quick analysis, she said that I was having an emotional reaction based on love...  Not a lot of explanation, but she treated it and away it went.  She then said that it I had big toe pain during a treatment period, that it was an emotional trigger and what I needed to do to "fix" it...  I've had several others, but I wasn't knowledgeable enough to know what emotions caused it - just got rid of it!

I will tell you that you need to continue to follow BTD/GTD while doing this technique, as the less toxins you have in the body, but easier the treatments and the body will have less to detox.

I had 2 small cabinets from a well known furniture company last year.   After 9-days I called them and asked them to take them back: headaches and strange dreams, getting harder to breath, and increasingly couldnt tolerate the smell.    They took them back.
It took a few days for my head to clear.

I think it was a kind of wood treatment for bugs or something causing the problem, not varnish or paint

I had to go to self employment, working out of my home because of environmental issues. So, this is not surprising to me. The idea of buying used is a very good one, also the glass and metal as well. I can be very annoying when it comes to buying furniture or something for my home. It has to be right for me.

I built a bookcase headboard one time. I don't know if it's the wood I used (pine) or some of the glue and finish  I used in various areas, but I never could sleep with that thing attached to my bed. It's in the basement now and has been for years.   I can't use florescent lighting, cell phones, or any wireless type of communications.  Once I leared my limitations, everything went smoothly. Occassionally something will sneak in under my radar.

I think if the wood is from a domestic source its not treated with chemicals so extensively.    If its imported they have to kill every single microcosm 3-times over it seems

DId you get to your kitchen yet? I've been thinking about you as I put in some off the shelf HD  cabinets in my kitchen here in Fl. I'm usually very sensitive to these things. But it seems proximity has a lot to do with it as these didn't bother me.  It only  bothered me when I was putting them in and using the glues and such.

OTOH, I have a  bookcase headboard that I made for my bedroom that I can't use. I used boards from lowes and glues etc. I've let it gas out (even natural wood can need this)  in my basement up in Pa for 3 years plus. Every year when I go up I try a night with that headboard on my bed and it ends up back in the basement.

oh yes you can have allergies to emotions.. like certain people will make you ill.. make you angry, make you upset or discusted..

or certain people like maybe thinking of Ghandy for some might be a pleasure to counter act the ugly.. try it..

and if you are tired or over worked often as you are Narnia then all the emotions are stronger..

the answer to your question is YES.. also to pictures like violence boxing or the like.. or tranquil scenes from other movies..

There was atime I would have followed any man with English Leather.. I loved the smell.. oh yes the answer is yes..

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

Has anyone tried an Oreck xl professional air purifier for allergies? I am considering getting one. I suffer the same as the OP. My stepson spoke to me the other day right after a cigarette and I have been suffering since. I inhaled smoke when he exhaled. When he visits, it stinks up the house even though he smokes outside. New things bother me as well. I find I am getting a little better since I am more compliant. We also bought a second hand leather couch set like new. I assumed they would be a good choice for a basement, though it would not take on basement smells like a fabric one would after a while. I washed it and sprayed the fabric parts with nil odor but the smell of their basement wont go out. I have heard that the oreck xl will help with that. Been reading reviews and only saw one negative remark. Any help would be appreciated.

Great point and very true. I wear personal (feng shui) protection for some of these reasons. Yet, there are still people who are energy vampiers (for me) that I have to avoid like the plague.  Also scary movies and violence on tv is something that gets me to another channel pretty quickly anymore.

Thankfully (mostly to California regulations ) cabinet makers are catching on-- there is a link at the beginning of this story--- and you will see that many major manufacturers are reducing the amount of formaldehyde. I was researching this yesterday. Conestoga makes a RTA cabinet that you glue together that can be all plywood backs/wood shelves. You pick the glue. You can get unfinished doors if you want to take it that far. I will let you know when I find a good distributor if I continue in that direction. Not sure how economical. That's where I need to find a good distributor.

I'm sitting here typing this on an computer sitting on my MDF desk, with MDF shelfs and surrounded by particleboard table tops and cabinets with the same.

Will be changing things up when we move even if we are sitting on the floor and living out of boxes for awhile.

Learning and reprioritizing.

Interesting product. Claims to seal in the formaldehyde.

I looked at RTA.  Looks like a good way to get a well built cabinet at a good price. I ended up not going that way bc of not being able to return or having to pay shipping to do so.  But if you can decide and not end up with BR, you'll have a lot of cabinet for the $$.  Off the shelf at HD turned out great for me. And ended up being cheaper than RTA by quite a bit with their 20% discount promo.  No environmental issues at all really.
