I just received it in this afternoon's mail, and now it will be winging its way shortly to Dr. D'Adamo's lab. I wonder whether I'm a nonnie or a secretor? I checked the box for getting my results on the website. I don't want to wait any longer than I have to. How long does it take, anyway, to get your results? |

Congratulations, O! I don't remember how long mine took, because it was 12 years ago!! But I think you can also check it online so you don't have to wait as long. |

It varies, I think. I read that the lab waits till it has a certain number of tests then runs them all off at once. Mine was about a week. |

I know that ours works like that in Canada, Shoulderblade. But not sure if it's the same in the States. Mine was going to be the tenth of 10 when I sent mine. But then got notified that my vial was cracked and half had leaked out so had to do one all over again & ended up the 2nd of the next ten and had to wait. Bummer! But I was sure glad I finally did it. |

I sent in two on the same day. Mine was done in exactly 10 days; my wife's test took 12 or 13 days. Seemed like an eternity! Whatever you are, celebrate knowing so you can further tweak your diet for you! |

I see that I should have said the lab that Dr. D. uses, Genova Diagnostics, from the FedEx receipt. My apologies. I was imprecise in my enthusiasm. |

I have a question about the secretor test.
I bought the saliva test from a UK supplier (seems like some of the contents are missing, but that's another story) but then I got to thinking.. I have a bad habit of biting the insides of my lips and cheeks, not usually as far as drawing blood, though that does happen occasionally, but would contamination from dead flesh (eeew that sounds nasty) affect the results? Might I be better off initially getting the Lewis test and then consider the saliva test if I turn out to be .. what is it?... double negative?
Thanks in advance |

Is the biting unconscious, or could you make extra sure to refrain from doing this for a couple of days prior to collecting your sample? |

The instructions in Dr. D's kit are to first rinse out your mouth with fresh, cold water, wait five minutes, and then spit into the vial. I would think that the rinsing out would take care of anything in your mouth that you don't want in the saliva sample, and after the cold water rinse you do feel your mouth producing fresh saliva, so that's what you want. I had to do it a couple of times to get enough to fill up to the 3 ml line. It's funny you should mention biting the insides of your cheeks and lips. I have recently realized that I tend to bite down hard on my teeth while I'm sleeping. I have awakened myself at times by biting my own tongue! But that wasn't when I was deeply alseep, just drifting off. What's up with that? Tension? |

That's called bruxation or grinding your teeth. Don't know the cause but if you don't get a night guard soon your dental bills will go up due to losing enamel and cracked teeth. I know because my Dentist calls me the Bruxer King! |
