I finished watching Eric's DVD on explaining the BTD and it got me thinking.
We have tiny blood vessels that can only allow one blood cell to pass at a time.
Doesn't it stand to reason that the sticky affects of lectins will clump said blood cells and end up clogging
the valves in those tiny blood vessels. Since varicose veins happen when the valves fail, we have an easy way to halt the progression of varicose veins. We may even have a way for the body to heal the varicose veins with lectin avoidance.

Lectin avoidance and also avoiding any foods that "flocculate blood serum" or "precipitates serum proteins" all reduce possible hidden damage throughout the vascular system, etc...

Tom and Joe,
Could you explain the "easy way" in laymen's terms so that we might benefit from getting rid of those nasty varicose veins? What more do we need to do beside being compliant to our BT/GT?

I wish it was that "easy."  There are genetic factors that cannot be dismissed.
It seems to me that the longer you have had varicose veins, the harder it would be to get rid of them.
The lack of nutrients causes cell death and possible permanent damage.

Keep up with BTD/GTD and you never know what will happen

I will try to really make this simple to understand as I would tell it to MY self..  .. when we as we all did.. ate foods that are either to acid or for some other reasons was not good for our body, we in fact cause all sorts of inflammation.. inflammation is another word for irritation, something to which the body has to respond, to break it down into other kinds of methods to eliminate the substances from our body.. Not all parts of lets say a cup of flower as in a slice of bread, was eliminated before it entered the fluid systems within the body.. some entered the blood system, others entered the glandular system in parts or whole or chemically altered.  By having such particles in the places where it is not supposed to be, then the body has to change it with other chemical  transformations in order to make it "possible' to get rid of the offending item.. IN a cold its the histamine that plays a role, in a red throbbing infection the puss is working its way out from under the tissue.. basically the same is true for acid foods ( those who are not in condition to be good for our individual body's) or foods that require acids to break them down.  another example is the coughing needed to get rid of phlegm out of our lungs after a cold.. the body will MAKE what it needs to do to get rid of a toxin.. it either envelops the 'culprit' by making it slimy or sticky -- as in sticking the substance to blood vessel walls - which will prevent it from traveling further and cause more damage.

I am certain that I have not explained anything even though I used many words..

as for the veins as you lose the water retention yet another defensive reaction, when you eat body conducive foods the intercellular fluids will first be exchanged then eliminated, and so the veins will reorganize and adjust so as not to get worse.. maybe some can get better, others might be to far gone.. but still  THE VEINS WILL HEAL and get stronger, even when not smaller.. BTD can do that..

It sounds like a cardio vascular problem from poor circulation.

do you think the rest of the body has the same vascular situation even though one can not see it??

It may first manifest itself in the lower extremities due to gravity.  It is most likely part of a larger systemic problem.

Buerger's disease may be, a problem of heavy smokers and drinkers ? Another good reason not to smoke and overdrink ! They go for being amputated of the leg\s ! Diabetic ones especially for gangrene.

First, as you say, it is very important to stop eating lectins that are bad for your type.  This will significantly reduce inflammation.

The other thing I would seriously consider is to follow the Cardiovascular Protocol...
http://www.dadamo.com/protocols/10.html

Will this remove varicose veins?  I'm not sure.  I theorize that varicose veins are either replacement veins that grow when others are clogged or are clogged veins.  If they are clogged vessels, it is possible that the clog could work itself out and allow proper flow again...  If they are replacement vessels, visible because they grew in so close to the surface, I would assume that they are going to continue to supply blood to the area, even if the clogged vessel opens again...  Remember, this paragraph is basically conjecture...

I started getting varicose veins at the age of 21. They got increasingly worse until the age of 27 when I found out about Dr.D'Adamo's work and Live Right for Your Type. I'm very compliant with the diet and avoid all lectins and eat a variety of beneficials daily. I noticed the varicose veins started to diminish after 3 months on the diet including ARA-6 and Polyflora Probiotics. 9 months later my vericose veins were completely gone. My grandmother and mother had horrible vericose veins on the back of their knees and I always thought that would be my genetic fate. Thankfully, Dr.D'Adamo teaches us how to turn off the bad genes and turn up the volume on the good genes. I can now wear shorts and not have big blue veins down the back of my knees and legs. Thank you Dr. D'Adamo!

Thank you everyone for all the information! I am so thankful for this forum!
Lola, I was carrying about 10 extra pounds but when I became more compliant this last summer it just came off!
I was a dental assistant in college (back before "sit down" dentistry) and stood for eight hour days while wearing "knee-hi" nylons under my "uniform". Circulation was cut off....
My dad noticed one in his leg a few years ago...it is EXACTLY like mine...same leg..only I have had it for years. He told me his Mom had legs like road maps! well....now I have it in my genes! ( My Mom's side are all good.)
Mine are not painful but ,of course, are ugly.
I am worried about the (possible) internal ones for health reasons.....
All my  annual blood and lab work comes back great, so????

Buerger's disease

I think those blue parts seen on google..are more from the starving of blood vessels from having blood clots..

in the case I am asking, her spots are just many vanes.. in ankle the area.. on the surface..

ACTUALLY I just googled the word 'varicose vanes, ankle' and that showed me pictures exactly of what I am talking about.. spiders that got bigger.. you are correct.. from smoking..

now however the reason they are so prone blue and visible, is that the ankles where swollen for years..and there is fluid stagnation..

focusing on that - after a week she reduced the fluids.. and can move her ankles again.. she could not before..

Somewhere I read that Dr.D thought there was a link between varicose veins and not properly stretching. My veins have shown improvement with my improved stretching and improved muscle tone. Varicose veins are veins that have poorly/non functioning valves. Veins have valves that help pump the blood back up to the heart. When the valves stop working the blood pools in the veins (stretching them) and has a harder time getting back up to the heart. Both good food choices and good exercise practices will help.
