Go back and check your settings and make sure you put the data in properly.

Can a saliva secretor test give wrong results? It may if you do not do it properly, never leave it in a hot mailbox, always have it picked up.

Yes it can if you had bleeding gums.  That would always test out secretor.  Unless your sample was mishandled or incorrectly marked I would take the test results as being valid.

why couldn t he be one of the A nonnie teachers to whom soy is in fact a beneficial???

If you have doubts about the saliva test, I suggest confirming your secretor status by getting a Lewis blood test.

Another thought:

I confirmed my secretor status by using the diet.

The different in my response to the secretor and nonsecretor diet was quite noticeable for me.

Since the nonsecretor diet works for me, I do not think I would go back to the secretor diet, even if for some reason I found out that I was a secretor.

    alright.. about this nonnie/secretor diet i will give it a try...i will go with the secretor diet and specially the foods are to be avoided for nonnies.. i hope i notice the differences...but it might not be quit healthy..& since i work most hours a day it affects my efficiency at work ...

Right!!   Why take chances if you can afford the test?  The more certainty you put into who you are, the easier it gets to focus on the right things for you!

I've been doing reading online here and came across this post because I've been wondering if a secretor test can fail.  I took Dr. D'Adamo's secretor test and we sent it in to them.  It came back Non Secretor.  However my gums WERE bleeding when I was spitting. It's a sensitivity thing that I've had for years, from brushing teeth to eating.  My gums don't hurt and I've never been diagnosed with gum disease, so its a "way of life".  But I was bleeding during my collection and I still came back as a non secretor.  I wonder if that means I really AM a strong non secretor?

I think it means that you did not get much blood in the saliva collection tube.

If someone is not confident in the secretor results determined by saliva, another way to determine secretor status is to test a blood sample for the Lewis antigen.

Where would I find that test?  I couldn't find it on the website

The Lewis antigen test is a blood test, so you need to get it done someplace that tests blood.

You may have to ask several companies to find out who in your area performs the test.



Quest is a national company that some have used.

If your health practice is using SWAMI GenoType instead of SWAMI Xpress, you may want to test for the Duffy antigen at the same time.



Other tests to consider as long as you are drawing blood: A subtype and MN blood group.



Note: None of these test are necessary they just increase the specificity of SWAMI results.

Mine said non-secreter but I am indeed a secreter. It may have been because of the hot weather.

I found out it was wrong based on the lewis antigen test.

I respond much better to the secreter foods.

Soy is likely to be good for a non-secreter teacher but I doubt to have as dramatic of an effect as it does for a secreter. However the ability to process a serving of lamb weekly really sets the two apart as well as a few vegetables.

Great!  I'll talk to my doctor and see if I can get these tests ordered, otherwise I'll go direct.

My saliva secretor test came back as a secretor but I'm highly suspicious of the results.  I've been test book nonnie the majority of my life IMO.  I'm anxiously waiting to have the Lewis antigen to confirm my suspicions.

How could you have antigens secreted into your saliva if none were secreted?  I would think you might question a determination of non-sectretor as something might have happened to destroy the antigen but it couldn't be there unless you secreted it, right?     Am I missing something, not a biochemist here

I JUST got my secretor status results (YAY!).  I'm a non-secretor.  Very glad to know, but I was hoping secretor.  Would the fact that I'm taking antibiotics affect the test results?  Should have asked before!  [I just called to inquire and was told no, antibiotics would not affect the test, btw - relieved!]

lewis double negatives can mostly be non secretors, but some are secretors or light secretors.....................read about it and find out
