Is breakdfast reallly necessary? I prefer not to eat when I get up and just have tea and an ounce or two of juice with my Polyflora. I feel fine without eating until late morning when I have lunch. Then I have lunch, supper and a couple of snacks in the evening, with the last one being rather large. Is this okay? If not, why is it important to have breakfast in the morning. With the way I currently eat, I am never hungry until about noon. |

Depending on what and how big your last snack is of the evening could be the reason you are not hungry in the morning. If I eat a good supper and don't eat anything(drinking liquids, yes) before bed, by the time morning comes, I am really hungry. Like Lola says...it's a matter of individuality. Debra |

I do eat quite a large snack, almost a meal, just before bed currently. Dr. D does say that we should not eat meals after 7 p.m., so I guess I would be willing to change if there is a good reason why we should eat soon after we get up. |

The sooner you eat in the morning, the sooner your metabolism goes up to provide energy... Also, it triggers the brain that there is food available, so it doesn't have to be in "saver" mode... |

I guess it makes sense that I would have more energy after I eat. I don't have much energy in the morning and I always thought that was just because I am still waking up. I guess maybe I'll try cutting out that late snack/meal at night - I am not really hungry then and it is really just a habit to do this. I'll see what happens!
so it doesn't have to be in "saver" mode...
Would eating earlier in the morning, then, be likely to help with weight control? |

If you need to lose a bit of weight, it will not help you to put calories in your stomach and then go into sleep mode. |

I've always heard that eating when you wake up - or shortly thereafter, and at least three meals spaced throughout the day with the last being several hours prior to sleep are the best for natural weight control. Early breakfast triggers metabolism to wake up and the early final meal is mostly digested prior to sleep. |

Thanks! I will try this and see how it goes. It does make sense, I guess. Maybe I will be hungry in the morning if I don't eat so close to bedtime (or worse, after I go to bed!) |

It may take some time to adjust to the change, so patience . . |
