My dad was just surprised to get results that he is a non-secretor,  His blood type is B+.

I wanted to ask all B-Non Secretors, can you share your secrets with me?  Which foods and habits do you know make a big difference beneficially?  Which can you tell make a difference in being avoids?

FOr those who are very compliant, what are the major parts of the program for you in diet and lifestyle habits?

Anything specific to B Non-Secretors you can share would be great!

Corn most definitely, you also don't have as much room to play with sweeteners. I tend to use vegetable glycerine and agave.You might check him out for the GTD since he is likely to be glutein sensative.

Thanks!  I have the Genotyping and SWAMI Express kits as soon as I can get over to measure them.

Other B Nonnies?  I know this is a fairly rare type with maybe only AB Secretors and Non-Secretors being more rare, but there must be a few B Nonnies.

Other than corn, in all its various forms, the next biggest problem food for me was chicken.  I get really bad muscle and joint aches from chicken or something with chicken broth.

My recommendation is for Dad to cut out the major avoids in the B diet; or do the SWAMI as you've stated and follow that...  

Great that your dad will do it.  Mine is fighting it.  Of course, I'm not close enough to be a helping hand - I think that would help.

Yep mine is a B and allmost assuradly a nonnie. His favorite foods are corn flakes, peanut butter and crackersand anything else that is not on the diet.

Like the others have said, corn.  Also, wheat seems to be worse than corn for me.  When I cut out wheat my mental clarity and sense of well-being changed dramatically.  Also, my gut can now tell right away if I have any wheat.  I stay away from it.  I haven't had chicken for over 10 years, since BTD.  I accidentally had some, once, at a friends house in some hash, thinking it was beef.  I got the so-called 24 hour virus symptoms.  As a B nonnie, I never get those stomach viruses.  It was the chicken.  I stay away from peanut butter.  I would just suggest following the diet. There are so many good things we can have. The longer you are on it, the more you are able to tell what has caused you a problem that you may never have know before.  Good for him for being willing. But, then there is a smart B for you.  They are all over the place.

My first "heads up" is that for all non-secretors, compliancy is more urgent than it seems to be for secretors.  In general, we just don't have the lee-way to over-burden our bodies with foods that are received as toxic substances.

A number of foods that I know better than to eat:
corn ~ makes me feel poisoned
wheat ~ tears up my gut and it lasts for many days
sugar ~ terrible acidic condition, heartburn and also swollen tonsils
soy ~ sinus inflammation
chicken ~ bad headaches
uncultured milk ~ stomachache
avoid oils ~ diarrhea

Foods that are Super!
yogurt
lots of vegetables, a good variety and lightly cooked
dark green leafy veggies, cooked
baked sweet potatoes
wild salmon
sardines
lamb
blueberries and cherries
pineapple juice, diluted
extra virgin olive oil
ghee (but not excessively, or cholesterol goes up a little)

My answers are a little different than Victoria probably because I'm an Explorer.

Foods that really make me feel bad:

Corn
Wheat
Sugars (I eat very little but, I like Agave the best)
Avoid Oils (sit like a rock in my stomach)
Sesame - I get palpatations
Soy - bloated feeling
Chicken - just don't like it

Foods that feel great

Turkey
Lamb
Rice
Spelt
Lots of Veggies - Big variety (raw, cooked) I eat more veggies than anyone I know
Fruit (now that my candida is under control) apples, peaches, oranges, pineapple
Kifer (I love this stuff, more than yogurt)

I eat many small meals a day and eat a big variety of foods

My list is a little smaller as my body seems to be tolerant of most foods...

Green tea and lamb are the two foods that do quite noticeably make me feel very good. I've never been able to tolerate soy, haven't tried it in years, probably hasn't changed. Haven't had chicken or corn in a few years either, and I miss neither.  Sugar can be a problem depending on when I eat it. Of course, I shouldn't be eating it at all. I'm not sure about wheat, it's not normally included as part of my diet, but on occasion I will have some and not notice anything out of the ordinary.

Like Victoria said, we are more sensitive!  In addition to what was been said, he should be careful of how many sweets he eats, including fruit.  Also, I wouldn't assume that a B-nonnie beneficial food will necessarily be beneficial for him.  As I've discovered, individuals can have food sensitivities that go beyond BTD, but the BTD is the very best place to start!  Getting rid of BTD avoid foods will make it easier to tell if other things are problematic.

Can I ask about Sugar for B Non Secretors please...

How does this relate to things with natural sugars like juice or dried fruits etc? do they become avoids or is it just added sugar thats the issue?

Added sugar is poison.  Naturally occurring sweets may be ok for some B nonnies and not for others.  Most of us at the very least, treat concentrated sweet foods with respect and moderation.

And there are sweets like maple syrup, honey and agave.  Again, this can be a personal matter, depending on constitution and genotype.  I'm a real fan of blackstrap molasses, but don't eat a lot of it.

I remember reading where Dr. D wrote that sweeteners aren't good for anyone, just that some are less bad...or something to that effect.  I searched the site but didn't find it.  Maybe it was on the BTD wiki?  I don't have the link to that anymore.

I feel that also, TJ.  MoDon (one of our past Forum administrators) was a real fan of the 'no sweets' approach.  I can't remember the reasons either, but it may have been a similar issue to the AGE's that oxidized sugars promote in the body.

I have a feeling that Lloyd or Lola would remember that topic.
