It looks like I can't have any of the protein powders from Trader Joe's because they have fructose and maltodextrin in them (which I have many cans of in my cupboard!)...
and I have a can of "Whole Foods 365 Whey Protein Powder" which says:
--Ion exchanged --Microfiltered --Hydrolyzed --Lactose free Ingredients (Cross-flow micro-filtered and ultra-filtered whey protein isolate, micro-filtered whey protein concentrate, natural vanilla flavor, ion-exchange whey protein isolate, hydrolyzed whey protein concentrate, free-form branched chain amino acids (BCAAs) (Leucine, valine, isoleucine), free-form L-glutamine, Stevia.
Is this ok to use for my protein-fruit smoothies?
And what is the most economical-best kind/place to get protein powder for smoothies for me?
Thanks for any help with this?
Oh, and why can't I have regular (or decaf) black coffee. I don't have any stomach acid or digestion problems (that I am aware of).

coffee plays havoc with our system in general.... insulin mimicking response for one.....
NAP s protein powder has the right balance for your physiology.... avoid whey and fillers as well as additives found in all other brands |

I think you answered your own question. "That I am aware of". |

I guess my question really is:
Can I have "lactose-free" whey protein powder?
Or can I only have rice and egg protein powder? |

You can have whatever you'd like to eat. The diet suggests avoiding whey completely. |

I alternate between NAP Protein power and NOW Whey Protein Isolate. I add carob power to the Now brand. I get that at the Health Food Store. |

I use whey even though its an avoid. Make sure it doesn't have lots of additives, sugar and it high quality. Its the only dairy product I consume. Also I can't bring myself to eat other sources of protein, like eggs. To me, whey helps with stamina and weight control. Haven't noticed any negative side affects, but I may be overlooking something, too. |

I have been trying a very high protein whey protein on 2 separate occasions; week before last for 2 days (1-2 serves each day) & now last week for 2 serves (1 on each of 2 successive days) It was just as an experiment to see if on a needs basis I could have it as a protein source occasionally...but on both trials I developed mucous symptoms & this second time have ended up with a sore throat too... Not fun - I know, dumb to experiment but if I hadn't, I would not have known... |
