What does Dr. D. say about colonics?  Does he recommend them?

Great!  Thank you!  I was thinking of having it done, to cleanse all the toxins from previous wrong eating.  Sort of like making a fresh start.

Colonics are great! The things you need to know is that just one colonic is not worth it. If you are going to be serious about having it done you need at least 8 sessions. Everytime you have it done you are helping to eliminated layers. The other thing to know... if you see a very well trained Therapist they will also massage your abdomen before or during your colonic. This will also help. Also taking a fiber supplement to help cleanse from the other side of the colon prior to having colonics is a very good thing to do too. Just the fact that you are following your blood type diet will help to cleanse your system. One last thing to note... colonics only clean the descending colon and not much further. This is only 1/3 of your colon. Do all these things together and you'll feel great!

OOOooooohhh... and one more thing... it can be rather painful. That's the downside. The cramping that some may feel from having it done can be extreme. I guess it depends on how much you want to cleanse and how your body handles it personally.

I had it in 1988 with no pain.  I didn't know if Dr. D. was a proponent of it.  Just wanted to make sure before embarking, since so many of the things that I'd learned in the past, I've been having to unlearn with the BTD system.

Look into Dr Bernard Jensens self.. calemas..  much gentler.. and you do it with a much better understaning of what it is supposed to do.,.. or read  his Tissue Cleansing Through Bowel Management..

Being here is invaluable, but not enough. We need ALL the Doctors. I needed them for a very small cancer spot-I could never feel!!! Please do your mammograms! Doing so saved me from cancer later on. I am grateful! Thanks for learning from my experience! I was lucky! I wish the same for YOU!

I have that book.  That's what inspired me to do it.

Not so sure Dr. D recommends them for just anyone. Only one of my friends that visited him at UB was recommended to have colonics a BT O Explorer.  And some of my friends are rather  unhealthy

I know that the diets in and of themselves are cleansing, Iam certain it says this in Live Right for Your Type. Why not embark on an all diamond food week rather then have a colonic?

He has said that sometimes the bacteria gets pushed up into the colon into places it does not belong which is not good for anyone.

To each their own.

That makes sense.  It is certainly not a natural thing to do.

I've been thinking about doing this.

Does it upset the flora?

Colonics can also wash away "good germs" along with the "bad germs" and built up toxins. After having this done, it's important to re-populate the gut with beneficial bacteria, as well as eating a diet that feeds the "good germs" while starving out the "bad germs." (Germs aren't really "good" or "bad." Any kind of microbe can becomes problematic when it's growing in too great a concentration because the gut is imbalanced.)

Colonics can be very helpful to "clean house" after years of very bad eating habits and/or as treatment for some serious illnesses. But they shouldn't be something that's done "once a year for maintenance" as some proponents suggest. Once you get the gut ecology in balance, it's self-sustaining.

Like any other medical treatment, you need to weigh the potential benefits against the potential side effects for your particular situation. It can be a potent healing tool when used appropriately, but if it's not needed, it can be useless or even harmful.

I see. Is Dr. D in agreement with this?

Doesn't he have a colon hydrotherapist at his clinic?

Thank you for sharing.

Colonics rarely fix what most people think they will (constipation, bloating); but often fix problems that people would never think stem from their bowels (migraines, PMS, psoriasis).

My ND/Classical Chinese Acupuncturist would agree with you, Narnia.  In Chinese medicine the belief is that in this area of our body energy (and other things) need to flow down and 'out' so to speak.  Putting things 'up' here is unnatural.

Calemas are different, in some ways, I think also safer/less dramatic... I did them for some time at home too, after my intestines dried up during my pneumonia episode with 105 temp...

I followed the Jensen protocol, equipment and all.  It takes time to really clean out all the way to the other side where the appendix is... Then I also reconditioned with sups and many a juicing effort with dandelions and other BTD suggested foods.... It was the day I got introduced to BTD by the person who introduced me to both at a 5 day sleep forever, cleanse and sleep again, after my pneumonia...  The best was that at that place I stayed at for 5 days, I got the promise of juice in bed... I was so weak... just the promise was life giving. The treatments where health repairing.  Needless to say BTD became my way of life... That was 20 years ago...

But not for everybody. Only for specific patients, and only makes the recommendation after examining them.

My guess is that the BTD/SWAMi will do the same thing but over a longer time period.

If you are in pain you might want the quick fix.
