I live in MD and rarely feel any allergy related symptoms (especially when the pollen
starts to turn the cars yellow and most others are feeling it). The last couple of days I am SICK. Feel worse than ever. I know I have a little thing with mold, but
this is crazy. Tree pollen and mold are high and I feel like I have the flu.

I've been avoiding things like dairy and wheat and have been more compliant
to my SWAMI, but not perfect. Could this be a little detox with allergies, or
can I be missing something from my diet that used to keep them at bay?
Also, do any allergy sufferers have any tips? I'd appreciate any feedback.
Thanks!

Second the probiotics, and utica dioca, or stinging nettles helped me in the past also.
Both probiotics and nettles guard against any candida also!

As an O, probiotics haven't done a whole lot for my allergies.  I don't know if it's different for an A or not.
Going on BTD 10 years ago took away my spring allergy and left me with the fall allergy.  Mostly the ragweed.  Kills me!  And it's the quercitin/bromelain/turmeric combination that gets me through the fall.
I've been on GTD for nearly 2 years and it hasn't touched my fall allergies.  Was a bit disappointed.
Probiotics keep me healthy and get rid of anything else for me... but not allergies.  And I've taken it by the boat load and - nothing!
So anyhow, just another perspective.

I always ate honey my whole life. It's kept me from having terrible allergies. I was tested as severly allergic to ragweed.  I hardly sneeze in the fall.. I've been desensitized to pollen thanks to honey. The only problem I seem to have is itchy eyes in the spring from the trees blooming.  I use to use Patanol, but I can now use
Similason and get through the 2 weeks that it's really bad..I just have to use more of it than Patanol.

Collinsonia root (stone root) has gotten me through the past month of allergy season. Had itchy
burning eyes, stuffy head/ears for many weeks. I stopped eating dairy for 2 weeks and
slowly I'm doing much better.   Will go back to dairy after everything has bloomed and the yellow
dust goes away.

And a more vegetarian diet has been helpful for me as well...I've been eating beans every day,
cultured vegetables, LOTS more vegetables, sprouted foods (alfalfa seeds, sunflower seeds,
broccoli sprouts)..more salads, more raw foods.  Cleansing time for the liver....It's Spring!

I did the honey thing too but to no avail.  And it was local and everything.

Ragweed and mold are my two worst killers.

Monday I was exposed to mold and it's a whole lot worse than being exposed to ragweed.  I've never been poisoned before but I imagine that it would have felt similar to this.  My mold reaction starts out with the typical sneezing, itchy eyes, but then proceeds to a fever, achy all over my body and much congestion in my nasal passage.  Today, I'm finally doing better.  I don't hurt I'm just blowing everything out.
I'm not sure what to do about the mold allergy.  Fortunately I'm not exposed it often.  I've tried the stuff that works with my normal allergies but nothing seems to do the job.  I stay strict to GTD, take everything I know to take, including probiotics, ARA6, quercitin, bromelain, turmeric, Vit. C, and even tried silver but it's like my body has to process it out.  Milk Thistle seemed like it helped some but I don't really know for sure.

While avoiding dairy and wheat are major helpers for me, certain times of the year even that doesn't do the trick.  Probiotics don't seem to make much difference either, but I've taken them forever so maybe I just don't know what good they're doing.  What I find that really helps is doing a saline nasal rinse several times a day, just using the cheap squirt/drip bottles you can get at the drug store.  And then if I get desperate a child dose of Benedryl takes care of the rest.  It's not perfect, but considering I used to live on Benedryl, sudafed, and steroidal nasal sprays most of the year, it's good enough for me.

It sounds to me like you have a virus, not allergies. Drink lots of fluids, take extra vitamin C, and get plenty of rest.

For the allergy sufferers on this thread, I still reccomend vitamin C and lots of fluids, as vitamin C is a natural antihistamine. I take about 6 grams per day during allergy season (and more when ill.) I try to use my neti pot twice a day to wash all that polllen out of my nose (then rinse my eyes with saline to get pollen out of there) but in reality I usually only remember to do it once a day.

I'm right there too...heavy chest, productive cough, teary eyes, sore ears and overall ick.  Though not as bad as previous years and have not had to resort to the inhaler so I say my compliance has made this a bit better.

I used to have "flu symptoms" every other day due to allergies or sensitivities...

I eliminated the problems using a combination of BTD/GTD and NAET / energy balancing.

Some people on this forum totally pooh-pooh the energy balance, but it works for me and others I know who use it.  If you want details, PM me and I will forward information to you.

Oh, I loved to chew and suck on those vit C tabs my mom gave us as kids, too.  I loved the taste, but just like candies coated in that sour powder they'd make me create tons of thick spittle and then my throat would feel like it's closing off if I ate more than one or left it in my mouth for too long.

My in-laws have many, many cats and my FIL smokes so whenever we'd go see them my allergies would flare terribly, to the point where I'd end up with a low-grade fever and I'd have to take so much Benedryl I'd be totally out of it.  The next day I'd be totally worthless, exhausted just getting over it.  With BTD I have very little problem going there now, if at all.  And it's nice to be able to visit my parents, surrounded by clover and wheat fields, without being drugged, too.

Thanks everyone for the tips.
I am feeling SOOO much better - like a normal person again.
Other than being around smoke, I can't remember an allergen ever making
me feel that bad.

I've used the neti pot with saline now - this is the 4th day - and it just keeps getting better every day. Also using the honey in my tea, yogurt, etc and eating
raw onions with everything. Getting Vit. C though lots of berries and pineapple
(is that enough?) I've always been on the probiotics so I can't
really say if that's affecting anything. I'm just happy to be
normal again, and without having to take any OTC drugs. Wish the same
was true for my son, but the chewable Claritin worked wonders for him
so I'm happy for now, since we are going to Disney next week and I just
want him to feel ok.

Well, I'm full blown sick now.  Could not get out of bed yesterday and cannot breathe.  Dipped into asthma med for the first time in maybe two months.  Allergies and stress turned into catching the bad cough thing my DH kids have.  Hopefully this will blow over quickly.
