Oh I am loving this dry skin brushing. I had forgotten all about it until I started reading the Genotype book and as I suspect I am a Nomad, it talks about brushing in this chapter. It feels wonderful once you have been through the whole process and it is very calming. It says in the book to do twice a week - do you think it matters if you do it every day? As the book says - "It's addictive"! |

Yes...very addictive. I do it about 3-4 times a week along with mesh body gloves in the shower. Most of my flaking skin (if I have any ) goes down the drain and I feel fantastic for all of it. Haven't missed in a long time, but when I did I just didn't feel right for the day...like something was missing. Debra P.S. With body still wet from the shower...moisturizing with a good oil ( I used grapeseed) and lavender is really nice too. |

Yes I have grapeseed too - i think it is really nice - very moisturising but not too oily afterwards.
Happy brushing! |

I just started 3 days ago. I think my brush is too scratchy.... I heard you can make things worse if you do it wrong (wrong direction and such). I usually use straight strokes and not circular - is this a problem? Always towards the heart though. |

There are a lot of bath products out there, so if one brush is too stiff, keep shopping around. The ideal one awaits! I don't worry about technique. In general, all brushing is moving toward the heart, but sometimes brush strokes are circular, some are long and some are short strokes. Whatever feels good and fits on all the different angles and bones. Daily sounds great to me. I probably dry brushed daily for 10 years, and now, it's whenever I think of it. |

Thanks - did the brushing make a difference for you? I'm guessing yes since you kept it up for 10 years |

It did make a difference, and I love it. It makes me feel more alive, awake and just comfortable in my skin. |

I do really look forward to it, but I've been doing it at night (because that is when I shower), and I just read about that being a bad idea. I was a little jumpy when I went to sleep the last few nights..... |

I do it first thing in the morning and yes it is both invigorating and calming all at the same time. My brush is quite scratchy but I think that is part of it - as long as you don't bleed! I do all kinds of strokes but always to the heart. I have got my Mum on to it now too - she is a B too! Happy Brushing! |

What is a mesh body glove? Is the grapeseed oil that you use the same grapeseed oil that I can buy at the supermarket...I've seen it in the oil aisle with the other cooking oils? |

I don't use a mesh glove - I actually have a brush. The grapeseed oil I buy in the health food store and it is a massage oil base - not sure you can use the cooking oil version on your skin? HTH |

Grapeseed oil is an avoid for me...shouldn't I avoid using it on my skin too? I imagine that some of it must get absorbed into my system. |

Rex...a mesh body glove is a glove that is used in the shower and it knitted finely like a mesh. You can pick these up at Body Shop (Canada...not sure if they are in the USA) or a bath shop. They also sell them in dollar stores, but usually one at a time, so you would need to buy two. Grapeseed oil is an avoid for you (and me) if you ingest it, but topically it is not. If you really don't want to use it, you can use an extra light olive oil with some scented oil added to it. Debra |

I haven't started this yet. Been on the Nomad GTD for a year. The reason is because it says to brush from the feet up and I just can't bring myself to do this. As a nurse I was trained to never go from the feet up, but from the head down when washing because there is more contamination from the bottom up. I don't want to contaminate my brush and bring all of those cooties upward. Does anyone know if it works going from head down to toe? Would it cause a problem?

Thanks Deb...I'll look in the Dollar stores for the gloves & I'll think about using the grapeseed oil on my body. I've been using Jason Vitamin E Oil as a moisturizer...this works quite well for me. |

How about you work from the knees toward the heart and then go back and work from your knees down. Or, wash your feet first. It's helpful for the circulation to work toward the heart, but work it your own way. |

In Dr Bernard JENSEN greatest books worth buying and reading.. timeless info.... http://www.bernardjensen.com/bernard.php (he is dead some time) he talks about how we loose 1.5 quart of fluid through our body skin.. by brushing it we stimulate that and we shed fewer flakes in bed too. they sell brushes for this reason.. the idea is not to do damage on the skin.. use a brush going with the skin not against it.. then shower.. you can wash the brush after use.. as for from bottom up that is ok for a hand wash in a basin.. before a shower that does not matter.. |
| When I see other peoples medicines schedule-I am happy to be here taking care of my health I only wish to drop weight more easily-life would be perfection Being 'here' creates understanding. BTD prevents damage from eating avoids. Thanks Dr D & your sups - all support and friendships |

Just a 2 cent input, I first heard about dry brushing in a book called Initiation into Hermetics by Franz Bardon, which was written back in the 50s (he was a holocaust, concentration camp survivor). He recommends boar hair brushes, which I use and like a lot. You can typically find them in the "ethnic hair care" section of major retailers with cheezy names like "wave patrol" etc, but they may at first seem a bit coarse on the skin. He also recommends brushing until you're lightly pink as this shows stimulation under the skin. Obviously this will be different on different skin tones. Also, I personally use virgin coconut oil because I love the light coconut smell and even though it's a little oilier than some solutions, I feel really good after applying it. Also, its on my beneficial list I believe. |

Incidentally, Franz Bardon also mentions showering with cold water after this procedure, but he warns not to let cold water hit the thigh directly because it can mess up the magnesium balance in the body. Does anyone know if this has any merit? |

I finish my warm shower with a few minutes of hot water until my skin is pink. Then the very cool water for about 60 seconds. Fantastic! |
