Just found out that I am a non-secretor Type O and many of the foods that are neutral for Type O's are avoids for Type O non-secretors. The database doesn't say why...can any one explain why almond milk is neutral for secretors and AVOID for non-secretors, for instance? |

JK.. welcome. Can't answer for sure. Lola or Lloyd might know. What are foods are you looking to replace? |

Rice milk is probably your best choice, but you do need to verify that there are no avoid fillers, etc. Some people make their own... |

Sometimes for a prepared food like packaged almond milk, the problem can be with the other ingredients in the product, such as gums and oils. Making your own could be different, but perhaps Lola would confirm. |

Nothing can replace dairy.. but you can learn to enjoy new foods. What do you do with the dairy/milk? |

Non-secretors handle some things a little differently. I can't give you the specific reason in this case but suspect it has to do with the metabolic function. Also, those that 'get around' the rating by making their own unfiltered milk from whole almonds should keep in mind the differences in allowable portions (treat as a nut) and also that other liquids are more beneficial. |

I LOVED half and half in coffee and tea! I found a seemingly pure product called Mimiccreme--all I can do is try it and see what happens |

I still miss milk and cream, Jkturner
Now, I console myself with tasty stir-fries that have clarified butter, usually called ghee on this board. Clarified butter makes everything that is cooked with it taste great! It is still dairy, but there are no proteins to trigger my bad food cravings. |

I was O non sec.. and loved the diet every moment I was on.. I don't know what the stuff is about milk? - the thought ..oh well let me say it made me ill for 32 years.. almond milk? why not just eat the nuts.. other BTD stuff not on my list now since I moved to Genotype.. short legged Gatherer.. I have even fewer things like no more blue berries one banana a month .. yet it is making my GENETIC future much better.. I really feel that as O diet BTD person I postponed getting diabetes for at least 10 years.. (if not prevented then at least reduced some ill effects of it) I think going on BTD first as on O is a good way to later move over to Geno testing.. especially for non secr... now with the Gatherer way of eating I will prevent other issues in my future.. who could imagine in 10 years how well I will be as OPOSED to how sick I would have likely to be.. if it was not for having learned that I am O non and now a Gatherer.. HHHHHHOOOOT stuff.. good luck to your new way of taking care of your Future health!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! be proud of your self.. |
| When I see other peoples medicines schedule-I am happy to be here taking care of my health I only wish to drop weight more easily-life would be perfection Being 'here' creates understanding. BTD prevents damage from eating avoids. Thanks Dr D & your sups - all support and friendships |
