My friend is type A and she is having trouble with pains in her tonsils. Her left one is quite hard. I have been telling her about the blood type diet. She is interested but not full convinced. However, she says that she does not like taking antibiotics etc. I suggested that she try the BT diet as personally I have had success, and explained how a middled aged man finally found out things about himself through this diet.
I was just wondering if anyone had any specific ideas with regards to specific foods or supplements that she should take to improve this problem. All would be appreciated. |

Hi Green! Must be an A thing. I had mine out when I was 6. We don't have Naturopathic physicians in my state. My mom didn't know they existed. Tell her to go to a Naturopathic physician for treatment but absolutely follow the A diet to help her get her health back. |

Thanks Mayflowers We don't have many N.D.'s in Ireland I am encouraging the A diet. I think like the rest of us that she is hoping for a quick fix. |

The quick fix is removing the tonsils. I do not recommend it, but that was what was done in my case. |

I had swollen tonsils all my life, and the only thing that gave me lasting relief was adopting the BTD diet. She can try all kinds of stuff, but my honest answer is that it is the way she is eating that makes her body respond in this way. |

I have tonsil stones from wheat and dairy. I'm waiting to see if the BTD will improve this. I'm an A non-secretor. I used to get strep, but otherwise no other tonsil problems. |

Can anyone think of something to gargle with like goldenseal? Probably needs to be treated locally and systemically as well. Larch comes to mind, I think it is very powerful.

The BTD diet is anti-inflamatory by design.
I had many tonsil infections early in life and constant sinus infections through early adulthood, leading to 3 bouts of pneumonia in a year and a half... After I started BTD, all this cleared up in a matter of about 6 months...
The toxin removal and other healing is on-going. |

It's good to start the morning by removing the "fur" from the tongue, which is a nice little bed for bacteria. Then follow that by sloshing and gargling with warm salt water. There are several good herbal throat sprays available in natural food stores. A couple of them contain golden seal, myrrh, echinacea, etc. These products may give temporary relief. |

I don't know if you can get Nature's Sunshine products in Ireland (is that where you said you were at?) but there's a product of theirs that works awesome. It's called Lymphatic Drainage. Our oldest son, DJ, after he had whooping cough, went to the dentist and she was very concerned about his tonsils. They were very swollen and she wondered how he was still swallowing without pain. It took about a month for all of the swelling to go down and that included being on BTD.

That reminds me. Up until I started the BTD more than 10 years ago, my tonsils were always a bit enlarged and I always had postnasal drip. Even though I drifted away from the BTD to some extent for a few years, I haven't had enlarged tonsils. Even though they were enlarged, they didn't bother me, but perhaps my immune system was always being taxed. |

Just an update here.
Firstly she told me that here brother who is also an A had his tonsils out when he was very young.
Secondly, she changed from milk to soya milk and wheat bread to spelt bread and the tonsils have improved.
Thanks for everyones suggestions, they are very much appreciated.

Good for her! I'm glad she was willing to try some food-related changes! |
