Ok - so I have just found out that I am a B nonnie. I know my Mum is a B and am pretty sure my Dad was too (sadly he is no longer with us, so I can't confirm), as he was of Austrian Jewish heritage. If you put two Bs together - can they produce a nonnie do you think? Probably a daft question - just curious. Thanks |

Welcome to the nonnie club. Everyone move over one and let Mrs G have a seat. It will depend on which one or if both carried the nonnie gene. Blood type specifically hasn't anything to do with it. One of them, at least, has to have carried the gene. And Mrs G...there are no daft questions here. If you don't ask...how would you learn. Debra |

Can they both be secretors but just carry the nonnie gene, or would one actually have to be a nonnie? I'm just curious if one of my parents has to be a nonnie because I am. Mrs. G - I agree that you should ask anything that you are confused about... it's the best way to get answers and become more productive Thanks |

Nonnie is a recessive. It takes a nonnie gene from each parent. Both may be secretors, non-secretors or one of each since the recessive may be carried by a secretor. |

Thanks - it is all very interesting! I don't think my Mum is a nonnie, just by my decuction (I was right about me!) but think my Dad could well have been as he had a few food issues too. He also had Cancer in his early sixties and died at 69. My Mum and I are going to have a look through his medical records to see if we can find his blood type - I guess we shan't find the secretor status though. All interesting stuff. Thanks for your comments. |

hi, can i ask whther secretor status is likely to run in the family? For instance if you have siblings that are nonnie, does that give you a higher chance of being a nonnie as well? Also, do siblings share the same genotype? |

Bel: siblings wouldn't necessarily share the same Genotype either. In our family my kids and I are O- and my husband is O+. My daughter & I are Gatherers and my husband & son are Hunters. In my daughters family her husband is an A and so are her 3 kids. The husband is a Teacher, as is the oldest son (16). The 13 yr. old daugher appears to be an Explorer, and the 9 yr. old boy appears to be a Teacher too, but he's really to young to say for sure at this point. So depending on bloodtypes you can really get a mix & match. |
