Hi! Any Type Bs ever used a Lumi alarm clock to help with Circadian rythms please? I have trouble waking up in the morning but as soon as I am in the light, I am fine. I am thinking that one of the clocks would be good for me?

not type b, but I have a Verilux "HappLight" that have been using for about 8 weeks.  It was suggested by my naturopath to help with my sleep cycle.  I sit in front of it every morning for a couple of hours (while I drink tea, eat, do email/computer work, etc) and I have found it a great help.  I am sleeping better, and I feel much more energized in the morning...and even throughout the day!  I really like it.  

I don't think one of the smaller lights would have this much of an effect for me.

The idea of a full spectrum light to bask in front of for a period of time sounds like a fantastic plan.  I have gradually been replacing my lightbulbs with FULL Spectrum Lightbulbs.  They are expensive, but last forever!  I buy locally, but a search online will offer different sources with varying prices.

I got a ZEN Timepiece, which gives a gradual awakening.  I really love it since I tend to be a slow starter.  It gives me time to wake up in stages.  It's expensive, and I saved for a long time to get it, and have never regretted the purchase!

If the lumi clock is one of those that gradually increases the light, it wouldn't work for me, because depending on the time of year, it can be dark when I wake up, or it can be quite light when I wake up.  That's why I went for the graduated gong.

I know an O that enjoyed one of those alarm clocks that slowly get brighter and brighter. It finally broke and she couldn't afford to replace it, but I think she would get one again if she could.

She must have slept in a totally dark room.  If there was any light from outside coming into the bedroom, I don't see how the clock light would wake a person.

I have a sort of "poor man's" version of this I use.  It's just a lamp with a lamp timer.  I set it to come on 10 minutes before my alarm goes off.  The lamp isn't terribly bright so it doesn't usually wake me up on its own, but when the light is on when the alarm clock sounds, it's easier to get up.  If I didn't have black curtains it wouldn't make as much difference!

Hi! Thanks this is worth a try - my curtains are really dark as my husband has problems sleeping if there is any light coming through. I think I will try this though - the other gadgets are quite expensive to just try out whether this helps. Thanks

I had a chime clock that did that too and really liked it at the time. I'm a light sleeper and I found standard alarm clocks so jarring that I had trouble sleeping knowing that the awful racket could begin at any moment. I always woke up at the first strike of the chime however so I did not really need the 'gradual awakening' feature.  

I also sleep in a darkened room as we really do not have much of a dawn (or dusk) here except maybe in December and January. It's either dark, or light... not much inbetween.

For circadian rhythm regulation, my ND suggests a walk in the early evening as the light is fading to get your system to begin winding down, and to go to sleep when it is dark and get up when it is light. Our modern living sure has thrown that out of whack!
