I just received my Nasaline (for sinus irrigation) and tried it. It cleared my sinuses right out and I am able to breath much better!

Hey, I'm glad you like it!  I think it's a fantastic invention, and for me it's much easier and more effective than a Neti.

After using, I lean my head over and move it around for a minute to let the sinuses drain, otherwise, I find myself dripping salt water on people at the most unexpected times!

I got mine delivered last week.  I use it in the shower because if my nose is going to be dripping, might
as well let it go down the drain.   What I like about it is the force of the water....and it really does clear
out the sinuses very effectively.  One of my very best purchases in a long while!~

Yay!  When I got up this morning, my nose felt really congested, and the back of my throat had the draining. .    So I used my Nasaline and both nostrils have been totally open all day!  Love that little tool!

I use 1/2 tsp sea salt and 1/4 tsp baking soda per 8 oz (approximately) of very warm water.  Two full applications in each nostril!

You don't have to use the baking soda.  One other nasal irrigation company uses the blend in their formulas, and I found it to be effective.  Also when I was getting chemo 7 1/2 years ago, I was having problems with my sinus membranes.  I was advised by the dr. to rinse with a combo.  I don't always use the blend, but it seems to be soothing, and I like it.  It may be because it is alkaline and bacteria like acidic environments.

What does NA mean?

Why is it that the salt water sometimes feels like it's burning out my brain.    The rush of warm
water and salt almost makes me feel like I'm drowning for a few moments...Should I be tipping
my head more to the side?  Push the plunger more slowly? Wonder if I should try adding some baking soda to see if it's more soothing.  

And another question, should this nasal irrigation become a daily practice?

I think your problem is the ratio of salt to water.  When you get the amount just right, there will be no pain at all.  I know what you are talking about, though!     It will especially burn if you don't use enough salt, but it will have a different kind of burn feeling if you use too much.

What is the ratio you are currently using?

Use the best quality sea salt you can find, and make your water as warm as you can stand it.  Water that is too tepid can give that illusion that you are drowning.

I don't tip my head, just keep my face over the sink so the water can run into the drain.

Great feedback, Victoria, thanks so much.  I think my water might not be warm enough, so I
will make that adjustment tomorrow when I try again.  I bought a Himalayan sea salt made specifically for nasal irrigation and it has a little measuring cup which seems to be 1/2 tsp. And I'm using a cup
of water.  I don't think it's too much salt yet, I can taste the salt in the back of my throat after I
blow my nose.  I was tipping my head to the side of the nostril that should drain out water, but next
time I'm going to keep my head straight to see if this helps.

I am going to have to measure the little scoop that comes with my salt to be perfectly sure it's
1/2 tsp.

Try again tomorrow.  Will give an update.

You had asked if it should be done daily.  I don't use it daily;  only as needed.  If I'm dealing with an upper respiratory issue, I'll use it daily until it's cleared up.  

Another time that is a great idea to clean your nose and sinuses is when you are exposed to someone that has a virus!

  Actually, I haven't had "regular salt" in my house for 30 years.  I'm a sea salt gal.  And I buy the highest quality I can find.  My current favorite is Himalayan salt, but many people also like Celtic Sea Salt, or Redmond Real Salt.

I have the Pink Himalayan & Celtic. Have not seen the Celtic but thanks for confirming.
