After interviewing a few local Dr's of internal medicine I finally found one affiliated with Emory here in Atlanta. She was interested in the BTD and open to working with me the way I want her to. Although she didn't know what a Lewis or MN blood group was she agreed to research them and she if she could facilitate them for me. She agreed to do all the blood tests I asked for with no 3rd degree! I had my annual physical this morning. The EKG was fine, and the blood tests should be back Monday.
She was fine with me getting off my Nexium but wanted to see what my cholesterol results were before we discussed getting of Lipitor. Then we will tackle the Paxil...
Oh she also said over the counter niacin was toxic to the liver, is this so? If so I could get a pharmaceutical grade from her...
As some of you know I have not been 100% for a few weeks so she gave me an antibiotic.
Will this kill my probiotics? Should I wait until I finish the antibiotics then resume the probiotics..? Are there issues with other herbs I should be careful of taking at the same time?
I must also admit she was quite attractive so I got excited when she told me to take my clothes off But then I found out what she wanted to do and it wasn't exactly my fantasy
Thanks!
PS: Oh I also lost another two pounds

Nooo not antibiotics...IMO they are often over prescribed & the population is becoming resistant to them anyway...so do little good & some damage... Yes they will kill all bacteria in your system (they can't differeniate) What we tell people at work is to get a good probiotic & take them together but if you can't for some reason then yes take immediately you finish... "she also said over the counter niacin was toxic to the liver, is this so? If so I could get a pharmaceutical grade from her..." How can vitamin B3 be toxic to the liver??!! Unlesss she means "over the counter" man made?? & the thing is, you should always take your B vitamins balanced & together...B vitamins are great for balancing mood, healing...& a whole lot more... Will have to research as I don't know why this is said, but its in yeast extract spreads... I doubt pharma grade would be wonderful - you are always better off with a supplement from food & next best is organic one from actual food not synthesized material...& liquid if you can get it...(most easily absorbed into your body) You may want to try for a pick me up tonic with extra B vitamins in it...if you can get it?! Sorry I can't quite recall what you said was the problem? Is it just generally being run down or more?

I'm taking NAP probiotics now and in this case will continue. I'm taking niacin to get ready to get off Lipitor. it's from GNC and says Niacin (as Inositol Nicotinate) - is this ok

I'm not experienced enough to comment really but straight from info@vitasentials.com "Inositol nicotinate is superior to niacin in its ability to lower cholesterol without the degree of flushing...." "The use of niacin in large doses (3-9 grams per day) is an effective and widely used technique for control of blood lipids. Along with bile acid-binding resins and other drugs, it has been a "first-line" medical approach to blood cholesterol and triglyceride control for years.(3,4) Such large doses of niacin reduce blood cholesterol from 10-30% or more, with sometimes dramatic effects on triglycerides, (5,6) Niacin can also inhibit hepatic cholesterol synthesis at the same time it promotes cholesterol catabolism and excretion, specifically for the LDL cholesterols.3,4) By virtue of these actions, niacin raises the HDL/LDL + VLDL (high, Iow, and very low-density lipoprotein) cholesterol ratio - a very desirable change for reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Niacin, in addition to its role in lipid management, stimulates the release of the vasodilator and platelet anti-aggregant, prostacyclin. This action enhances peripheral circulation and may help prevent thrombosis.
Unfortunately, however, ordinary niacin at these levels always causes intense and unpleasant flushing for 30-60 minutes after it is given - a common cause of compliance problems with this therapy. High dose niacin also may cause Gl disturbances such as dyspepsia and diarrhea, and may in select individuals cause more serious side effects such as liver or gall bladder abnormalities, glucose intolerance, hyper-uricemia (gout), or peptic ulceration. These problems have limited the utilization of this otherwise effective treatment."

VERY interesting, thanks Possum! The guy at GNC said to not take over 1700 units per day. I'm taking 1500...

You guys!! Honestly And as far as a bonus, there is always next year That is the word bonus isn't it? You could change the ending slightly & I'd say you both had it already??
Btw found this too... "Niacin is an important B vitamin for preventing cancer, diabetes, and for treating high cholesterol. Inositol helps niacin perform its functions more effectively." Dosage sounds good as - "Full effects of inositol on the body are not known, so high dosages are not yet recommended."

I always amp up on the probiotics on the rare occasions I end up on antibiotics...always the result of not avoiding milk ...but then, I'm a girly and we always have more issues to keep track of when taking those bug killers. I pop a capsule every couple of hours just to keep the nasties away.
When my son had half a dozen strep infections one year (before we had his tonsils removed) the antibiotics really, really messed him up. It took severeal months of him munching on probiotics tablets throughout the day to finally get him back to normal. And, of course, the doctor said nothing was wrong with him

Thanks Plucky, I will keep them going down!

Golf......get off the Lipitor!!! Poison, Poison!! The side effects are nasty - muscle and joint aches, weakness. May day - may day! We told you before - get some Krill Oil and take care of yourself naturally. And follow your Hunter diet, of course
Another thought to stir the pot (and it WILL) is that I currently have a bladder infection. Went to my chiropractor, who practices DNFT (directional non-force technique) and does not "crack". He did specific checking on my spine to the bladder area and it was out of alignment. A little correction, and four hours later I feel better already...
Let the contradictory, horrified...or...maybe some "yep I get it" comments begin.......

Gz niacin never ever is toxic... but merely up from a certain amount; it might create flashes... and it's used also against shizophrenia in highest amounts...
btw thanx for the laughter about your fantasies .... if you take enough from all the B-vits you wont' need any lipitor.... this is for sure... to cut off nexium... fine too... but the very best is paxil... man(n) i don't think you reaööy needed it btw... ther's something interesting to read here :www.prozactruth.com this is an organisation which helps troubled peeps to tapper off all kind of such drugs and they explain expressis verbis what's about the true issues about SSRI's and other drugs..... ...
And if you are obliged to go for such remedies called *anti-biotics* so far and well I'd like to see you in taking *pro-biotics* ..... of course not after the treatment but during intake of junk ...
and what else ... ok wish you a quick recovery, my sneezing is nearly gone... monday up to the exploring hunt for some fresh mountaintea....

From my experience, the DNFT chiro is more in tune with the body. I like this better, even though for me it is somewhat more expensive to go to the DNFT...
My DNFT chiro is $40/visit. Most insurances cover chiro now so I don't know what your situation is. Mine is that I'm poor. However, I go as often as I can as it's a priority for me. He also does "muscle testing" and other really cool stuff that's totally in tune with what your body says to him. I've held different vitamins, meds, foods in my hand while he muscle tests and my body tells what it likes and doesn't
