Well I am a Nonnie as it turns out!!!! Can't find the original thread I posted my angst in, with regard to PathLab taking so long getting me my results....maybe just as well - I'm still less than impressed Had a few more emails back & forth last week & miraculously both my saliva samples had turned up!!?? First one arrived on 9th Sept (pretty much on schedual, seeing as I'd posted in Hobart Tas, on Fri 4th Sep) Where it went after that who knows... They'd also got the second sample after all... But even after me receiving all this info & it being CC'd to "Nick" (whoever he is), on Friday, it still took till Tuesday to get the email results to me.... May have been just as quick to use snail mail... Ah well the wait is over and now I know... They also then proceeded to ask me last week "did I want them to test the second sample?" I said "no not at this stage, but hang on to it, just in case!!" |

I can imagine him singing: She is Sooo O O negativeeeeeee..... Not true, though, Miss positive, regarding the tests: Extra info for Swami ... I just like filling all the boxes. There is one I cannot though!!! Subtypes, PathLab disapointed me on that. I think they are in the 'nice to' rather than 'must to' category. Useful but not critical? |

Welcome! You could try my quick and dirty method of seeing if you are an explorer. http://www.dadamo.com/cgi-bin/Blah/Blah.pl?m-1255310493/s-28/#num28I guessed at it since my Explorer mother has almost the same fingerprints as me. Her mother, also an Explorer, was born in Rotorua by the way. Dr. D' Adamo is so completely on the mark with the female line comment in the Explorer monograph. |

"A loop is a circular pattern that has only one delta (triangular pattern of lines) off to one side of the center. If you have close to ten loops it is likely that you are an explorer. Check the loops on both index fingers. If you have one delta on the thumb side of one hand and one on the pinkie side of the other hand then its almost a dead cert; you are an explorer."

I am discombobulated by your fingerprint info Paul - having just settled that I am a Gatherer...not your fault!! I know there are certain Gatherer foods I don't do so well on (maybe in time ) and some Explorer traits I relate to, but then there are certain Explorer traits I don't...and I have leanings both ways when I calculated...One day I will prob'ly get a swami done However for now I have never actually done my fingerprints... In light of the above quote... If I clearly have torso longer than Total leg by 5.5 inches and, Lower leg longer than Upper-leg by a clear inch plus the Nonnie & Rh- factors would I be likely to be more Gatherer or Explorer? I kept switching b/n the two but having an itching reaction within half an hour of certain foods in both "diets" (resulting in yucky welts/hives mostly on my jaw line)... I really want to get settled one way or the other as I keep buying stuff I then get scared to eat (like the expensive organic parsnips ) for fear of breaking out yet again |

Cheers,
what do the strength tests in the back of your book say?
Starting at the "Advanced Genotype Calculator Jump Table" & then going to the back of the book, that gives me G2 Gatherer - so do I need to do fingerprints or is that enough to determine that I am Gatherer not Explorer? I am just one nervous Nonnie you see, with so many bad & confusing experiences with food...Right now I am surviving on sardines, ricotta & pineapple (but not together ) Maybe I will have to put Swami on my Christmas list if this isn't enough... |

Possum, sounds like you've been 'round the place quite a bit ! I don't know what to say regarding the measurements as I was lucky and came out as Hunter so strongly that I'm not overly familiar with the Gatherer/Explorer nuances! Maybe SWAMI is the way to go in your case. I hope your food reaction mischief is managed soon ! AP |

Hey Poss After Uni I fancied a change so moved to London for something different - as my Dad's Scottish I got a British Passport as well as my Aussie one, so it was all a bit too easy not to ! Been here for 10.5 years now - I get home at least once (sometimes twice) a year, so get to see my Dad and brother quite a lot. My brother has also been here a couple of times to visit. Will probably go home to live on a more permanent basis in the not too distant future coz the political environment here is really getting on my goat now ! I want to have a place back in Oz and a place here (or in Europe) and follow the Summer ! AP |

I d follow the gatherer plan and tweak along the way, if necessary. we are our own pilots when it comes to choosing what s best for our genetic individuality. |

With the charts is would come down to your ring and index fingers. If Rings are longer then you would be Explorer if indexes are longer you would be a Gatherer. If they are different (ring on one hand longer, index on the other) then you'd be an Explorer too. The fingerprints are important, but I don't think you can pick a GT from them alone. The radial loop is not exclusively Explorer. |

Ta Heidi- that's what I thought and no matter how I measure them, the index fingers on both hands, are clearly longer & true Lola I'll do that... Munchkin that would be too cool!! I keep entering comps to get a trip over... Its just not practical for me to go with my husband yet, with my work & the fact that he is so busy day & night & only there for a week at a time... I wouldn't see him or get enough time to really savour the place One day ... *sigh* |

Possum, There is always the chance that SWAMI Xpress would override the Gatherer GT. But until you are able to run it you kind of have to go by the book Best of luck! |

Yes. The one index finger being an ulnar loop, while the other index is radial loop is a key point, however. Dr. D' Adamo specifically mentions this as a "first pass" explorer strength indicator in the GT book.
How did you get my fingerprints??
My initial reaction was to say that I stole them! I guess Explorers could have a really limited set of possible fingerprint patterns in terms of loops, whorls, and arches. I wish that we could genotype people just by their fingerprints, but that would be a little too convenient to fit with reality. Maybe this "suspicious convenience" is what turns people off BTD and GTD.
Does that make you part New Zealander then??
Yes, I call myself a part kiwi. My father's lineage links us to a Scottish highland clan, the Isle of Mann, and a knight who fought for William on the Norman Conquest. So I have a complex about my identity ... errr ... I mean a complex identity. |

Congratulations Possum on finally finding out you're a nonnie. Gee it sounds like it was frustrating! Just thinking outside the |_| here, since you've having trouble genotyping yourself. Are you sure the Genotype Diet is best for you, did you do the quiz : http://www.dadamo.com/which_diet_is_right.htmIt might be worth having a squiz at the book live right for your type at the Type O Non-Secretor Diet. I have many kiwi friends and have somehow got a kiwi accent though I never lived there! For my reference: How much did the saliva test cost? Did you order it through the dadamo website? |

Don't want to hijack post, but about fingerprints. I am sure I'm mostly an explorer, the diet is helping alot, though I have yet to find out if I'm a nonnie. Torso longer, thighs longer, ring fingers longer. Meso-ectomorph with visible tendons. I have high asymmetry, the kidney, liver problems, mould sensitivity problems and soy is no good for me. Mild tooth shovelling and carabellis cusp (not much help there). Suffer autoimmune problems, some allergies, anaemic many times especially when I tried vegetarian.
My fingerprints are thumbs: double loops on thumbs, non matching indexes - tented arch, tented arch / ulna loop combo, middle fingers ditto, rest 4 ulna loops. That doesn't match to your description Paul. Non-matching index fingers seem to be the key.

Does sound complex Impressive tho' On my Mother's side, I can trace my lineage back to French royalty (but only by association ) One of my ancestors was a seamstress to the ladies in waiting and there is a relative who was involved in the cause with Emily Pankhurst, or something like that - You might believe it too if you knew me |

Possum, There is always the chance that SWAMI Xpress would override the Gatherer GT. But until you are able to run it you kind of have to go by the book Best of luck!
Cheers I kinda thought that... and it was only my morbid fear of getting it wrong that was driving me Seems ok this past day or so, now I have got over my recent reaction to the brown rice I ate in my momentary digression to Explorerhood |

Possum - Thanks for that, that sounds like good value but sorry it was a big hassle for you though. Maybe I should order it soon if I want to know before the Christmas after next!
Are you padded all over Possum, especially on your arms, even when you aren't overweight? Seems to be a Gatherer trait.
Lola and Heidi, when you say matching, this is something I didn't quite understand in the book. Does that mean they have to be a mirror image of each other (and that's why you need to use a fingerprint pad I assume) or they match if they are both the same type (e.g. arches)?
Makes sense that Explorers would have a wide variation in traits since we can be any blood type. We're too unique! How do you catch a unique mouse? You neek up to them!

Until Lola tunes in with her answer, I understand that the fingerprints match when the TYPE of fingerprint in the one finger, is the same as the TYPE of fingerprint for that same finger in the other hand. I did not count the number of lines, or loops, or arches. In my case they are all loops the direction of which are matched by the same fingers in the other hand. So, both my index fingers match because they both have radial loops. The other fingers all match because they all have ulnar loops. So they are all matching pairs, ulnar and radials. |

Cristina, I think Possum had the saliva test only, with no blood test at all, that's why the cheaper price. I still have to save up for a while. I wasn't even aware they do that, and it looks like they don't just do the saliva test on it's own anymore??? I think she initiated it months ago but it got held up somewhere and she ended up doing two samples. Isn't that right Poss? Or did you order that through the Dadamo website - where it is only a saliva test? and they forwarded it on to Pathlabs? Cheers! |

Yep that's correct I wasn't even aware they do that, and it looks like they don't just do the saliva test on it's own anymore??? I think she initiated it months ago but it got held up somewhere and she ended up doing two samples. Isn't that right Poss? Yes that's right Sent first one off on 4th Sep; second one on 24th...Weird thing is there records showed later, that they had received the first one on the 9th Or did you order that through the Dadamo website - where it is only a saliva test? and they forwarded it on to Pathlabs? Nup Went straight to PathLab TBH, didn't know the D'adamo site crew would send it on

Possum - Thanks for that, that sounds like good value but sorry it was a big hassle for you though. Maybe I should order it soon if I want to know before the Christmas after next! You may well be ok... I actually wrote them an email saying I was dissatisfied with the delays etc, and if it had been any other service I'd contracted, I would have expected a discount in the end... Goodluck!!Are you padded all over Possum, especially on your arms, even when you aren't overweight? Seems to be a Gatherer trait. Yeah you could say that... Tho' mine is more on my arms, legs & butt That's where I put on weight first - especially the thighs ) I notice with my daughter, even though she is petite & right weight for her height etc, unless she is anorexic thin, even she is slightly rounded on thighs, arms & butt, but so strong from the type of work she does, so I'm sure it is muscle as well... & my son is the same - tho' he has a tummy now too, from all his wife's good (bad - wheat & cheese etc;)) cooking & the beer that he drinks We're too unique! How do you catch a unique mouse? You neek up to them!
