I got to add Secretor to my avatar today. I got the results a few weeks ago and I've been piecing together a nice chart to take to the grocery store with me, cross-referencing B Sec and Explorer. I'm sort of a laissez-faire guy, so the green column is Superfoods and Neutrals for both diets, the yellow column is Tier 2 or Black Dot Avoids and the Red column is Avoids for one or the other diet. I was surprised how many foods that I like ended up in the yellow column meaning I can eat them sometimes. I think I can stick to this one. Of course this is much cruder than SWAMI, but the beta-test won't be available until June. I'm definitely looking forward to that!
A funny story about doing my secretor test: Its been very dry in my house this winter. So after I went through the pre-test procedure of washing my hands, rinsing my mouth and waiting five minutes, I only got a little spit in the tube before I ran out of spit. I set it aside and then, inexplicably, I got a nosebleed. "Oh no," I can't get any blood in the spit or it will throw off the results." I waited for it to stop, went through all the pre-test procedures again and got back to work spitting in the tube. Better luck this time. I went way over the required amount in the end so I'd be sure to get a result. Well, I'm sure that's enough about bodily fluids for all of you. I'm sure I avoided cross-contamination and my results came back Secretor, a small surprise since Explorer Genotype tends towards non. I don't have to retest the Genotype though, since either way it would be Explorer.
Oh yeah, I got a humidifier for my bedroom and its been helping my sinuses and dry eyes. No more nosebleeds either.

Funny story! I think you're the first Explorer I've seen that is a Secretor. I've never been tested so I just assumed that I was a non-secretor since I'm an Explorer. I think I'll get my test done so I know for sure. |
