I keep getting recurring canker sores (once or twice every month and a half or so). I've looked it up online and it says it could be a vitamin deficiency, or allergies, and that it's common for women to get them during their period. Does anyone have any information on how I can prevent these from happening? If it's a vitamin deficiency, which vitamin? If it's an allergy, what allergen could cause this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Following the A nonsecretor diet, has greatly reduced the number of canker sores that I get.

I would occasionally get them as a child.  My mom gave me L-Lysine and it helped.  Following the diet....I do not get them anymore.

Many people are intolerant of Sodium Laurel Sulfate which is an ingredient in allmost all toothpaste, Try using Biotene or Jason's toothpaste for a couple of months and see if it makes a difference. If it does SLS is also in allmost all shampoos, Avalon and Jason's doesn't have it.
