Just curious about anyones experience with a heavy metal detox protocol...
Did you remove amalgams first?
Did you take any particular supplements like cilantro or chlorella?
Do you think what you did actually worked?

Thanks. I've been a BTD'er since 2000 or so. An episode today had me looking to get back to basics. |

Chloe, I am detoxing (and have been for years). Part of my detox is heavy metals, but also include pesticides, industrial chemicals, allergen remains, perfumes, etc... By the time I was able to determine what was causing the problems and find someone knowledgeable to help correct the problems, I was really sick. In the past ten years, I have been slowly detoxing and healing. I started with allergy elimination, but realized that without eating the correct diet, other modalities are much like treading water. Prior to eating according to Dr. D'Adamo's guidelines, detox and healing were a roller-coaster. I have not removed the amalgam fillings. They may be contributing to the problem, but I have been healing with them in place. If I were to remove them, I may heal faster or slower, depending on the effects of the removal... I am taking a long list of supplements to maintain healthy organs and to aid the removal of toxins... The amounts of each vary (sometimes daily) depending on the body's needs. Helix Plus - to keep the risk of cancer at a minimum as I have many lyphomas, subdermal fatty cysts, that are being removed... Sea Cucumber - To stop unneeded blood vessel growth - another way to limit cancer growth. Hepatiguard and additional Milk Thistle - Liver aid. Pancreatic Enzymes - Pancreas assistance. Grape Seed Extract - General immune support. Grapefruit Seeds - Prepared Extract doesn't seem to work, so I eat the seeds from citrus (Tangelo or Grapefruit)... - General immune support. Intrinsa, Deflect, Ginger Root - Intestinal and Digestive aid. Specific and general Amino Acids - Aid muscle tissue growth. Microhydrin - Balance cell hydration during major detox periods. Redoxa - labelled purposes - maintain lung and support immune system and detox functions. Nitricycle and Catechol - Balance mood and stress symptoms... Methyl 12 Plus - support metabolism and nerve systems. I also use additional herbal supplement and Homeopathic remedies specific for general and specific detox. For instance, I have specific homeopathic remedies for Mercury, Industrial chemicals, Lawn and Garden chemicals, Pesticides, etc... I have used some of the Bach's Flower Remedies for emotional balance as well... I do use beneficial foods to aid the process. All of my food choices are from the GTD Superbeneficial list. I don't take cilantro or chlorella at this time, but they may be other avenues to explore... I know what I am doing is working. It is a slow process, but based on how I feel (pain, lack of concentration and energy) when the detox gets really heavy, I can't support a faster detox process. I hope this helps... |

Joe and I have very similar stories. Very. Although some of the things we are taking are a little different, it's pretty much the same story. And I also have been getting better. It's slow, but it's WORKING!!! Praise the Lord! Because I was in a bad way. B A D.
If you want to hear what all I take, I'll tell you. But it's a list like Joe's. I go to a Holistic MD that has helped me a TON.
But so does this diet BTD and GTD. I've been on the teacher diet for about 2 months and it is just one thing that I can tell has notched me up a level in energy and health. But the BTD definitely helped too.
Artspooner, how long ago did you have all your amalgams removed? |

Might want to add turmeric to that anti cancer list. It also prevents alzheimer's. |

sorry, my question was merely meant... if you are on BTD normally you are going to detox your whole body. Best of all is normally you won't need any supps. coz your body is able to heal him/herself.... Ok if there are some amalgamfillings, so please take them out if possible and use chlorella after the removal...... hope it fits all the best from Isa |

ABJoe, thanks for sharing your protocol. This is what I'm presently using for detoxing. Ever hear of it? Pectasol. It's modified citrus pectin....I read Dr. Eliaz's research...was impressed. http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/100260.phpCheck out the mercury levels in the fish you eat. http://www.gotmercury.org/article.php?list=type&type=75
I hadn't heard of PectaSol, but I do eat some of the white inside the citrus rind... I've been getting the benefit without knowing why... I have almost stopped eating Tuna and Tilapia has much less mercury, according to the calculator... Thanks... |

Thanks, Mayflowers... I didn't list all of the beneficial spices (or other foods) I use due to the length of the list... I am finding ways to incorporate as much of the beneficial items as I can... |

I would like to remove my amalgams but after some research on the process, I am afraid to go to just any dentist. Here in Hawaii there's only 2 mercury safe dentists. Unfortunately not on my island. would have to take an airplane. I will ask my dentist about removal to see what he says. |

I did this back in the early 2000's. I was seeing a "functional" md and he recommended that I have my almalgams removed, then we did dmps/meyer's cocktails type of IV's. I also took chlorella, and alpha lipoic acid and some other supps that were antioxidants. I know that you should not do some of this if you still have the mercury/silver fillings in your mouth. My silver fillings were really old. They were put in when I was maybe 12 or 13, and they were removed when I was in my later 40's. I think if you drink hot liquids like coffee or tea and chew gum it can be problematic. I also remembered cleaning up a broken thermometer, eating lots of tuna fish sandwiches, etc. I had a high mercury level when tested. After all of this, and after having thyroid problems, I think there was an improvement in my health. But it is hard to say what really made a difference. My mercury levels were lessened, and I have smoother moods since then. I had elevated liver enzymes, before this all, and less after, but I also had since given up wheat, so that may also have been a factor. Hope this helps someone..... |

Thanks paulam. I can't believe how much we have in common. I am also 52, have had digestive issues, slight hyperthyroid but still in "normal range" & what I suspect may be fibromyalgia. I too have old fillings from the 70's. My dentist has replaced one w/ composite, but there are quite a few more. Did a regular dentist remove yours ?
I came to this diet for my health issues & had to identify my food intolerance's or all allergies. Had to look for a starting point & saw the book on a shelf in Borders, looked it over. Was so interesting I went back & bought it. the rest is history. I am feeling much better but have had the amalgam concern for quite some time. When I checked on the internet the conflicting info concerned me. OF course the ADA wants to call it pretty much a scam to charge high rates. I really don't believe that, but I do want to remove it carefully. |

Can someone answer this? I heard once that President Reagan had his mercury fillings removed all at once. Well, we see what happened! Maybe some of it was ingested. Now they know more. I will have a big filling removed soon & hope it helps. I wonder if the mercury I have has anything to do with the slower progress I have in health. I am basically healthy, but think I should have more energy & concentration & not have such a voracious appetite. Pray I can get the mercury out & not swallow/absorb any! But I really would like an answer about Reagan. I haven't heard any more about this after several years. Is this true or an urban legend? |

I did not hear about Regan removing his, but that would make sense if he did because he had Alzheimer's. Mercury could have caused it or maybe aspartame or maybe cooking w/ aluminum.....who knows. I think it wouldn't hurt to remove yours, except if what I've read is true....you can ingest it if not done right. I wouldn't remove more than 2 @ a time. |

My issues with mercury had more to do with me playing with the mercury from a broken thermometer when I was a child....The heavy little ball of mercury that would look so alluring when it landed on the floor...how it could be lifted up with a piece of paper and rolled around in the palm of my hand. I did that so many times it's a wonder I wasn't completely crazy even before I ever had mercury fillings in my mouth. And then all the fish high in heavy metals that I've eaten.... I've been tested many times...24 hour urine test, blood tests...I come out high in cadmium, mercury and arsenic...I even got a conventional medical doctor to test me... and when he saw the results he shook his head in amazement. BUT, I couldn't get my insurance to cover me for chelation...They said I had to have contracted heavy metal toxicity in the workplace....And this is something workmen's compensation would have covered if I worked in a factory..(which I don't). So, for years, I'm walking around with heavy metals that are seriously too high... but I think many people who have never been tested are also walking around with high levels...and PCBs and other environmental pollutants... I'm doing a protocol that says it's helpful whether or not you remove your fillings.. (and I've got very few silver fillings left in my mouth...maybe 2)... It's called Pectasol Complex....Modified citrus pectin to bind the metals when they reach the gut....and sodium alginate which I believe is like a metal magnet....This protocol doesn't disturb necessary minerals. Chelation required I go for IV drips of minerals...and the cost of chelation was so outrageous that I didn't even think it was an option. This website is irrelevant except to share information about this product.... http://www.heartfeltmedicine.com/index.php/products/proddetails/42/64/l_en |
